Amherst College shows a small portion of its extensive art collection at any given time. It is well-annotated and varied, from renaissance works up through contemporary, as well as some items from antiquity. The summer program "it's cool at the Mead" is especially worthwhile,as are docent tours. No admission charge. The student led programs vary greatly...some are very poorly prepared and presented. Others are well- worth the visit.
