“Quaint little find on Main Street.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

First may I say you can dine casually downstairs or a bit more formal upstairs. We choose the more formal. As far as the climb we are in our 60's my husband double knee replacement and we made it fine to a cute dining room, with view to appreciate. The bread fresh,a menu to meet anyones needs. You can order an entrée or create your own. We created our own, it just seemed fun.The pasta devine service a tiny slow but so,so nice.We will return when in the area.

“Excellent quality & quantity.....and value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

We were looking for a place to eat while visiting our grand-niece who attends UMASS. Amhearst has a plethora of restaurants so luckily we found Pasta e Basta (love the name) and sat in the more informal downstairs (street level) to watch the daily street activity.

The three of us shared a Bruschetta appetizer ($4.95) which was excellent using freshly baked foccaccia that was loaded with fresh diced tomatoes & cheese. Next we shared an outstanding, crispy Caesar's Salad larger size (4.95) which was plenty for the three of us.Our niece ordered the Chicken Broccoli ($11.50) consisting of a delicious alfredo sauce smothered over perfectly cooked chicken breast portions & broccoli and pasta; my wife had the Chicken Verdicchio ($11.95)which consisted of chicken breast, fontina cheese, freshly-cooked mushroom, capers & artichokes in a white wine sauce over pasta served piping hot. She indicated it was fabulous and very large portion. I had the Chicken Beneciano ($12.50) which consisted of fontina cheese, spinach, roasted red pepper, very freshly cooked mushrooms & capers in a white wine sauce over pasta. Superb!!

Since you are at a table in the barroom you have to order from the bartender (friendly & very knowledgeable of the menu)...but he served the meals to your table steaming hot out of the kitchen...you also went up to the bar to pay the bill..since there was no place on the bill for a tip I asked him about it and he replied "oh no, no tip required"..I gave him one in cash anyway.

None of us finished our huge meals so our niece happily went back to her dorm with three extra meals!! The quality of the food, service, amount of food, and the value (that's why I indicated the prices) was outstanding & we will certainly be back next time we go to UMASS for a visit.

“Food is good, but timing is everything”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

We ate at Pasta E Basta the evening before my son's graduation. Everybody in our group was satisfied with their meals, but we had a long wait between our appetizers and our dinners. The waitress was friendly and attentive, but she seemed a bit overworked for the number of tables she had to deal with. I'd recommend this restaurant for the food and service, but be prepared to wait.

“Good lunch after church”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Downtown - easy to walk to from parking garage. You can choose your meat/vegetable, sauce, and type of pasta. You can even mix and match items from the main menu to create even more options. The chicken beneciano with white wine sauce was too lemony. The rest of our meals were very good.

“fast and nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

You order your food at the counter, wait a bit and pick up your order. But it is far better than a fast food joint. The grilled fish is a nice addition to your pasta. People are friendly.
