This museum is located on the edge of the Hampshire College campus. It is a lovely small museum housing Eric Carle's work and ever changing exhibits of other picture book artists' works. There is an auditorium which is used for local productions, films and the like. The well stocked activity room is always bustling with young artists. It is well worth the trip.

Our museum trip was amazing! It's a great opportunity to see Eric Carle's work and meet other amazing picture book authors and illustrators. On our trip, we saw Peter Reynolds' presentation and Q&A time. We had the opportunity to get our books signed by Peter, in which he invites his fans to sit on his "guest" chair. Once seated, he personalizes his signature how the fan wants, and holds conversation with the fan, making them feel special. The staff was super helpful and was out meeting the fans and visitors. A great experience!!

This is a great place if you have young children who like art and stories. They have events going on throughout the year. They have an art room dedicated where the children can do hands on projects, a very large gallery with a changing display on one side and Eric Carle's artwork on the other. Most of the time they'll host local/budding authors and illustrators and your child can meet them in person. They have a book store as well as a library where you can sit with your child and read.

First, the positives. The bookshop was fantastic; just about the best selection of children's books you could imagine. And my daughter liked the activity room a lot.

The biggest downside was the museum itself. I thought in a museum devoted to children's art, the pictures would be big and bright and, at the least, at eye level to a child. Instead, the pictures were all quite small and were several feet off the ground, meaning I had to pick my daughter up for her to see them. I was just surprised the museum wasn't laid out in a more kid-friendly fashion.
