“Best Cappuccino in the valley”
Reviewed January 17, 2012

Amherst Coffee has excellent cappuccino, very good fresh brewed coffee and tasty sweets. The bar (open after 4) has a small but strong wine list and some exceptional specialties including 4 types of grappa and designer bourbons. You can site there all day if you want, which is the downside because a lot of students do just that. Its often hard to find a seat and too crowded to have an enjoyable conversation with friends. But, in order to get a really good cappuccino I'm put up with nearly anything.

“Best quality coffee & tea + a bar with nibbles”
Reviewed January 4, 2012

Amherst Coffee and Northampton Coffee use the same roasters and have the same delicious coffee. When a place can do decaf espresso/cappuccino and decaf iced coffee that tastes better than most places' regular versions, they are masters. Of course their regular versions of all coffee drinks are unbelievably rich.
There tea selections are outstanding as well.
The Amherst shop also has a short bar with wine and mixed drinks and finger food (cheese, olives, etc.) which only adds to the attraction. Has a good amount of seating, with a long table where people share space comfortably, tables and window counters for singles or doubles and large windows on two sides. Some evenings there is acoustic music -- jazz when we have been there. Ambiance is both casual and refined -- like a NYC espresso house in the 60's. Not really a food stop -- they are focussed on beverages

“Love it, day or night.”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

Amherst Coffee has been our favorite coffee shop since it opened. We visit several times a week.

Mornings there are great -- have a perfect capuccino and a flakey, crispy croissant or a nice scone, with conversation if you want it. Lots of regulars, but plenty of newcomers, too. Big table in the middle of the room for sharing the newspaper, or pick a spot at the bar. There are bistro tables outside, ideal for watching the goings on at the main intersection in town. In the evenings, the place really is jammed, and for good reason: the drinks are fabulous, the cheese plate tasty, and the vibe lively.

The staff are quirky but friendly, and they strive to provide an excellent all-around experience.
