“A wonderful weekend getaway!”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

Arriving at 2 am, we were greeted by Steve who was very warm and helpful. I loved how he had a smile on at 2 am, it is refreshing and a treat to see that. The room was excellent! The food was delicious. The town was cute and charming. We without question will return, thank you Steve and the rest of the very helpful family at "The Jeff," you made our holiday weekend getaway very merry!

We are lucky to have a wonderful staff, accommodations, and culinary team, and are happy to share this experience with all of our visitors. Even at 2 am, were thrilled to hear that your encounter was just as pleasant and enjoyable as if you arrived midafternoon.

Enjoyed our stay at the recently renovated Lord Jeff. It is on the green within easy walk to the campus, the Emily Dickinson House plus lots of restaurants. A hotel permit enables you to park on the street or lot nearby. Nice fire going in the library with newspapers, books plus comfortable couches and chairs--with free coffee available from the lobby in the mornings. We did not try the gourmet restaurant attached, but it looked attractive. Our room and bathroom were spacious, clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: We had a second floor room overlooking the town green.

Thank you for joining us at The Lord Jeffery Inn, and for sharing favorable remarks on our interiors and accommodations. We do hope that you’ll have the opportunity to try 30Boltwood and a few of Chef Diordano’s farm inspired dishes, upon your next visit.

We were in a room on the lower ground floor which was very acceptable as I am unable to walk far. However to get to the room we had to pass through some deserted public rooms which were sadly in need of a good clean and dust. Trays from room service were in the corridors at 5pm when we arrived and still there at 9am when we left.
The bathroom was very tiny and the room planning was slightly odd with a sitting area in a separate room which made the bedroom very dark and gloomy. There was no real car park except on the street and round the back. We had hoped that this would be a charming New England Inn but sadly it was just pretending to be one.

Room Tip: Don't bother.

Dear Carole,

I was sorry to read that your most recant stay with us did not meet your expectations. The issue regarding the room service trays is a very poor oversight on our part and I have since revisited this issue with both our housekeeping and food & beverage teams. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

As for the room, I was happy to see you appreciated your location but sorry to hear you were disappointed with some of the features. One of the unique qualities of being a historic inn is that each of our rooms has distinct characteristics. No two rooms are alike and while some of our accommodations do have smaller bathrooms, there are other room types within the Inn that do offer larger, more spacious accommodations. Should you find yourself returning in the future please feel free to contact me directly before making your reservation and I will personally assist in finding the right room that can satisfy all of your needs.

Again, thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay and we hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,

Robert Reeves

Loved this charming inn in the center of Amherst. My room was delightful, and much more attractive than the hotel's website. I loved the fireplace. The food at the restaurant is superb, I ate almost every meal there. The library on the main floor of the hotel is a lovely place to sit and read, or gather with friends. It boasts a fireplace the size of a sub zero refrigerator.

The only reason why I wouldn't give it 5 stars is sometimes the service in the restaurant was slow, and the lamp in my hotel room was dusty upon arrival, dust free the next day. But don't let that deter you, it is the only place to stay in the area in my humble opinion.

Room Tip: I stayed in 304 which was a corner room with a great view of the town square.

Rooms are very tastefully decorated, cozy and clean. Comfortable beds and pillows. We stayed in a room that had 2 beds and a sitting room with a pull out sofa. Nice bathroom also. The inn oozed charm and class, but my only complaint is that it is near the college campus and the students were taking advantage of the warm fire so we couldn't enjoy it. There was also another room that had a fireplace and students were there studying also. Restaurant was good for breakfast (not included in room price) but the food was delicious and the portions were huge! The French toast was 3 large slices of toast and I could only eat one! Location was terrific.
I would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for visiting The Lord Jeffery Inn this past October, and for sharing your reviews with other travelers. We’re pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay, along with our interiors and cuisine. I have to agree that I’m pretty partial to our French toast too – next time try the ricotta pancakes with fresh berries!

We look forward to your next visit.

My wife and I stayed here in late October and had a very nice time. The room was spacious and well furnished with a really comfy bed. The Lord Jeffry is a beautiful inn well located in the center of town. Easy walking distance to shops and food, as well as the Emily Dickinson house, which was our main reason for visiting. Staff was great and the Inn felt warm and spacious. Very relaxing! Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend. The food and service at the Bolthouse restaurant was quite good as well.

One can expect just a first rate experience coming to this lovely village, and this lovely hotel, in October. No doubt much charm remains after the leaves fall and the village green has to sustain itself without the outrageous colors of autumn, but October soars. Terrific staff, lovely restaurant, remodeled facilities, and the whole of the Lord Jeff setting on the green in town center pleases and rests even the weariest of travelers. And unlike so many autumnal venues across New England, the Lord Jeff does not try to make its profits for the year on autumn guests. It remains our pick for best lodging for the money in New England.

Room Tip: Call the registration desk! They are all good.

We were so lucky to have such a lovely fall, filled with vibrant colors. It’s one of the best that we can all remember; happy that you were able to experience some of it! Thank you for choosing to stay at the Lord Jeffery Inn, and for your positive feedback on your recent visit and the great town of Amherst. One can make the argument that it’s the best time to visit New England. Warm cider or cocktails in front of 30Boltwood’s fireplace lounge? We hope you were able to enjoy that too!
