This hotel and restaurant (the restaurant is called 30 Boltwood) are truly exceptional. Everyone who works there is wonderful, friendly, helpful - you feel almost like you are visiting friends. We have stayed and eaten there twice in the past two months, and everyone remembered us on the second visit. Everything is brand new, elegant, refined, beautiful, yet friendly and relaxed at the same time. It is a wonderful place to spend a day and night when we just want to get away for a night (we live two hours away). But it is very hard to get a reservation on a weekend - they book up well in advance! I guess that is because other people also realize what a special place it is.

I have been to Amherst now three times and have stayed in a different establishment every time, searching for a clean, comfortable, convenient experience with all the niceties that make travel an annoyance. Finally, I found it. The Lord Jeffrey is smack dab in the center of town, a stroll from restaurants, shops, a lovely green, and the beautiful Amherst College campus. It is immaculate, and the service was impeccable -- efficient, friendly, and personal. The building has real charm -- whitewashed brick and quirky architecture (The sitting room off the lobby has a large, antique fireplace with a exterior window INSIDE of it!). The restaurant is very pretty, and the breakfast food is delicious. Our suite was small but comfortable (great linens and pillows), and it was essentially soundproof. We worried when we arrived on a Saturday evening and noticed a big party being hosted in the restaurant, but we didn't hear a thing. If we return to Amherst, we will definitely return to the Lord Jeffrey Inn. I'll bet it is gorgeous in the Spring, Summer, and Fall when everything is blooming, and you can make more use of the lovely patio space.

I’m so glad to hear that you have found your perfect place to stay while visiting Amherst. We’re so pleased to host you. Thank you for your favorable review regarding your stay, and the interiors of the Inn itself. You are absolutely correct; the patio and fireplace in front of 30Boltwood truly is lovely. It is like sitting on Amherst’s front porch!

We certainly look forward to your next visit to Amherst, and hosting you again here at the Inn. Thank you again thinking of The Lord Jeffery Inn.

We had our Christmas Party of about 30 people at the Lord Jeff and it was amazing. All the people on their staff were so organized and it was a special evening for everyone at the party. The food was delicious and we loved the ambience of the Inn. Everyone had so much fun and the staff was so accomodating. Jen Willby was so nice to work with in planning the event. It was so perfect that we are having our Christmas party there again this year.

Thank you for celebrating the holidays with The Lord Jeffery Inn. The holidays are such a joyous time of year, especially this past year as it was our first holiday season since our renovation. I think we felt like kids on Christmas morning, the whole season! We appreciate your kind words regarding our sales and banquet teams, which will certainly be passed on to them.

We look forward to celebrating with you again this year.

Although a called a hotel, this old inn was quite cozy, and immaculately clean! Rooms had recently been updated, including a fancy new, green electrical system, and the restaurant was fabulous - great decor, menu, service, and ambiance. Each meal we had there was perfect. which was the reason we dined there so much. Located in the center of Amherst, within walking distance of the college, Emily Dickinson's home, and a sweet downtown, complete with a common, this inn has everything going for it! (In fact Robert Frost used to stay there when he'd come to teach at Amherst.) It ain't cheap, but we'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the garden, or the common in front, if possible. Also, for a bit more money...

It's a nice inn, with comfortable beds, and fairly new bathrooms. But make no mistake, it is fundamentally an older building, and sound insulation is poor. We can hear the conversation from the room next door, and there were loud dragging/scratching sound coming from the floor above.

Thank you for leaving your review, we love getting feedback from our guests as it helps us to constantly improve. I do hope you enjoyed your stay with us!

Unfortunately, as you mentioned, our historic building is old and I’m very sorry if noise was an issue for you during your stay. I want to ensure you that we try to take all the necessary steps possible to minimize the sound heard from room to room.

We hope to see you again very soon.

We had a lovely, comfortable and cozy room at the Lord Jeffrey. The staff were outstanding. The Inn is beautiful with many comfortable places to sit by the fire (inside and out). The room had been recently renovated and was sparkling clean. However, the rest of the Inn showed housekeeping neglect; the floors of the bathroom near the lobby were filthy and a pile of old sheets and towels sat in the hallway near our room for the entire length of our stay. But overall it is a lovely place and we would definitely stay again.

I worried that the old-fashioned look of The Lord Jeff would make it too formal for me to feel comfortable but it ended up cozy and quite inviting. There was a fire in the common room where there were all kinds of tables and chairs for solitary reading or conversation. The room was very clean and not over-decorated, and the food in the restaurant was quite high-quality. I am hoping to go back when I'm in Amherst next time.
