“Come for the beer, stay for the food”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

This is a great place. I will drive 30 minutes from home to visit The Ale House. I like to go on weekend afternoons when it is quier and sit at the long bar and talk to the bar tenders about the beers. They have a fairly good rotation of taps and a steady supply of the bottled beers. You can get some things here that you won't see many places--such as Achel 8 Bruin. The menu is wide enough to please almost any pallet and the quality of the food is good. The building is very beautiful and clean. If the weather is good, it's great to stroll through the downtown area and see the water rushing through the canals. You won't be disappointed by your trip.

“Great Beer, Delicious Food!”
Reviewed July 4, 2012

I never thought that I would order Mac and Cheese at a restaurant, but the smoked cheeses and incredibly complex flavors make this an amazing dish. The beer and food menu is extensive and the food delicious. A great night out.

“Awesome beers, mediocre food -- though good for bar food”
Reviewed June 2, 2012

You'll find some incredible and rare beers here that you will not find anywhere else on the North Shore. The food is okay, but slightly upscale for bar food. Still, don't go for the food, as it isn't great, but the place is worth going to for the beer.

Tip: Ask for the table by the window overlooking the river.

“Good Prices and Nice Atmosphere”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

The restaurant is in a beautifully restored building. It has booths, high top tables and a first and second floor. A large bar with seating is available as well. The menu is varied with several choices and prices. We enjoy the pulled pork sliders and the chicken Parmesan. All aspects of the meal were great including the service

“Good beer and a burger+”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

Ale House is our favorite spot for a good beer and above average pub food. Sister restaurant to the Barking Dog (also a favorite). They take their beer seriously so you can always count on a great selection of high quality brews.
