“Well cared-for trail with lots to see!”

Reviewed August 19, 2013

We bicycled from Lanesborough to Adams and back. Stopped at the visitor center in Adams and enjoyed the exhibits there. Also got to hear the carillon playing on the hour (Moonlight Sonata was one of the pieces). Saw some wonderful birds as we biked along the trail. It wasn't crowded (on a Monday) and trees provided shade along part of the trail. Very easy to navigate - great place for families with kids to enjoy the outdoors.

We park at Farnum's Crossing in Cheshire, then walk the trail heading toward Adams. About halfway between there and the Cheshire Road crossing we sat on the bench to take in the beautiful view of the lake. Along came three white ducks waddling toward us. Shortly afterward five chickens came out from behind us and joined the ducks. On our way back to our vehicle we heard a lot of honking overhead. A flock of geese flew down, landed in the lake, and headed toward shore where people were fishing. Check out the pictures I took with my camera phone.

We parked in Adams and rode uphill first. The Visitor Center is a good place to change clothes and the a/c was excellent. The trail is wider than many and you can ride side by side. There are very few roots under the smooth pavement. Bring a towel so you can put your feet in the lake and dry off to continue riding. Road crossings are well-designed.
