“Walk or Bike!”

Reviewed July 29, 2013

Nice trail for walking or biking. Family friendly. Start at the Adams visitors center and check out the skiing exhibit.

We parked in Adams and rode uphill first. The Visitor Center is a good place to change clothes and the a/c was excellent. The trail is wider than many and you can ride side by side. There are very few roots under the smooth pavement. Bring a towel so you can put your feet in the lake and dry off to continue riding. Road crossings are well-designed.

We went there on saturday June 22nd 2013. It was about 2 hr drive from our home town but it was well worth it. We parked in Chesire parking location of the trail and started our ride from there. My daughter about 3 year old loved the ride. Ride was very smooth and hardly any variation in elevation. View is excellent as Chesire reservioirm Berkshire pond and fast flowing water along the trail makes it a very pleasant ride. We picked lunch at Berkshire Mall pnera bread. Excellent view of mountains around the place. I would recommend it for anyone looking for easy ride and spending time outside

12.5 miles long (one way) and it is well worth the trip all the way down and back. They really did a good job on this path, it passes a few lakes and runs through wooded areas so you don't have the distraction of cars.

This is a 10.8 mile ride (one way) from Lanesborough to North Adams. There is parking on either end. The ride is almost level the entire time, there is ever so slight an incline on the Adams side toward Lanesborough (important if you have very small children).

The purpose of this for serious cyclists would be as a light workout. For the rest of us, it was extremely pleasant.

I did not give it excellent because I could imagine that in the summer time, with humidity, there may be mosquitoes or bees along the way being so close to water (Cheshire Reservoir and the Hoosic River).

For conveniences, on the Lanesborough side, you have the Berkshire Mall and on the Adams side, there is the tourist center. The parking at the Lanesborough side has restrooms, also. The park is carry in, carry out for trash.

If you walk, run or skate/blade, this is excellent, as the flat course is easy on the joints. The view along the reservoir is absolutely gorgeous, as we were there in the fall (even in cloudy weather). If you know the area, there are places along the trail you could enter in case you did not want to do the whole thing. Enjoy.
