The trail goes from the Berkshire Mall all the way to Adams. The section that follows the shoreline of Cheshire Lake is a wonderful walk in the fall with all the colors. From beginning to end the round trip is about a twenty mile bike ride with no real heavy peddling.

We found the bicycle trail at the intrance of the Berksire Mall road by rt. 9, Lanesborough, Pittsfield, Ma. The trail's beauty seem to unfolded as we biked in about 5 minutes, by a pond and soon by a lake, with lots of picnic tables, and by farms. We stopped by a farm stand, just a few yards, near the trail, having a hot cup of coffee, and my wife had hot cocoa and muffins! The trail is gradually descending down a long mile and half towards the town of Adams, Ma. and passes by the edge of town, a restaurant that used to be a train depot! They have very good sandwiches/food, etc. For us, we seem to enjoy the 11 miles ride(one way). The trail ends in about 1000 yards, at "the Visitors Center". We parked our bikes there, and went "downtown", Chinese restaurant, and cafe's, etc. After a brief light lunch of hot soup and sandwich, the ride back to the starting point at Rt.8( Pittsfield) seem just as nice and beautiful and invigorating!

The town is so "photogenic" and so cool with old houses and old beautiful buildings, park with Gingko trees, etc. This is one of the best New England towns we have ever visited!

I have been on a few rail trails in Ma. and Ct. this is by far the most scenic of them all. Picnic tables along the way, restrooms, very clean, easy to ride flat paved surface. It is 11miles long and goes from Berkshire Mall entrance at Bershire Mall Rd. off of Rt. 8 at the Lanesborough -Pittsfield, Ma. line, and ends in Adams,Ma. Just beautiful scenery along Cheshire Resevoir. If you go all the way to Adams and come back the grade coming back is alittle harder but an easy ride for a novice. Take a ride it's worth it.
