Description: The Local Table is a West Acton destination for weekday lunch, weekend brunch, drinks, and dinner. Our food is extraordinarily honest: every dish is crafted to order; we use fresh, high-quality ingredients; and nearly everything, but for a few condiments, is house-made. We source our fresh produce locally whenever possible, and do business primarily with local suppliers. We strive to create gratifying food and drink. There is a variety of small plates for omnivores and vegetarians; comfort foods with an upscale twist (Brioche French Toast for brunch, Lobster Mac & Cheese or Shepherd’s Pie Carbonnade for dinner); and distinctive takes on classics (Ipswich Crab Cakes, Veal Francese). Or you can relax with a locally made brew and a delicious, juicy burger — voted “Best in Acton.” Lunchtime features hearty sandwiches, soups, quiches, and salads. Our bar offers regional beers; wines from small growers and sustainably managed vineyards; and and specialty cordial drinks, many using liqueurs from New England. Our burgers are from Midwest beef raised on a vegetarian diet, are hormone and antibiotic free, and have a DNA trace-back (meaning a burger comes from only one cow). Our chicken and turkey are antibiotic-free, humanely raised, and processed in state-of-the-art facilities. Our chicken supplier conducts a sustainability program to reduce power, water, and materials use, and our turkey is from a cooperative of family farms whose processing plant has reduced its power and water consumption. We work to use suppliers whose values align with ours. The Local Table supports local people advancing local causes, and is committed to enriching community by being a resource and destination for groups and organizations — whether for networking, meetings, and/or fundraising events. The owner is a member of coalitions that support legislation to improve working conditions and wages for restaurant workers; all workers at The Local Table are paid a living wage.

“New owner: pay attention!”
Reviewed September 25, 2011

The new owner, who also changed the spelling to "Savory Lane", has done a teriific job at transforming the look of this Acton restaurant. What a difference! Unfortunately, she appears to be in very deep water. I had lunch there with a friend on a recent Friday. In addition to there being only one experienced food prep person, there was a trainee who hadn't been trained at all prior to this Friday lunchtime! The owner toggled back & forth between answering the phone for to-go orders, taking in-person orders, taking payment, and trying to train the new person on the fly. Customers waited patiently in line. Our sandwiches were lackluster and we couldn't finish them. Bread was on the stale side and filings were sparse and ordinary. No extras were offered, like pickle, chips, etc. This simple and forgettable lunch cost over $20 for two sandwiches and two bottled drinks.

“YUM!”
Reviewed November 2, 2010

I grew up in Acton and was when Savoury Lane opened it was and still is a great local place to catch a bite. Food is always fresh and staff are helpful. I have never had a disappointing meal here. If you like grilled cheese try their grilled havarti with dill on rye with tomato and get a side order of their cold tortellini salad. Yum!
