There are three Historic Inns, all within walking distance of each other and within walking distance of the state government buildings. The service is amazing, the rooms are immaculate, and the buildings are gorgeous..they really are historic.

I stayed at the Calvert House, and it was beautiful. The window of my room looked out onto an atrium within the hotel rather than to the outdoors. It was pretty neat, actually, and a result of the building being from the 18th century.

We stayed at the Maryland Inn and were very happy. Remember that this is a very old building, so don't expect the luxury at Loew's! But you cannot beat the location - within easy walking distance of downtown restaurants, shops, and the docks. The $25 valet parking is worth every penny, since parking is scarce. The lobby and room were spotless and beautifully decorated, if you like antiques more than sterile hotel furniture. The room was a nice size and the bathroom was small, but what do you expect? It was charming and lovely and quiet. The a/c and heat are in one window unit, but it wasn't any noisier than some of the units in motels I've stayed in. There was plenty of hot water, a nice flat TV, a good mattress, and free coffee in the lobby. The staff was very friendly and courteous. It can be a little confusing that you have to check in at the Gov. Calvert House and get the valet there, who then drives you to the Maryland Inn, but now that we understand that, we will definitely be going back again! I saw that someone else said they were ripped off when cancelling a reservation. We were actually in town for a trial which was rescheduled several times, so I had to keep making and cancelling reservations. The staff was very understanding and there were no financial errors.

Our son was away at a sleep-over birthday party, so my husband and I snuck away to the Robert Johnson for a little quality time. We were very happy. The staff were very friendly. The furnishings in the room were gorgeous. It was very clean (I noticed in some reviews people complained that the bathtub was dirty. It did have a permanent stain, but there was no dirt at all.) Our window over looked the MD state house, which added to the vacation-y feel. And, the price, compared to other hotels walking distance from downtown, was extremely reasonable. It is easy walking distance to many restaurants and the water front.

It was an event to remember. Our son was married in late December. The rehersal dinner was at the Maryland Inn. The reception at the Gov. Calvert House Inn. The food was spectacular. I wish I thought to bring a tupperware! Most of the wedding guests stayed at the Inn and we all felt right at home. All the rooms were delightful, the staff very accommodating, and the location is perfect for walking anywhere in the historic area. You won't be disappointed if you stay here.

You can't go wrong with this collection of historic hotels in the heart of downtown Annapolis. We did the bed and breakfast package for $79 which included a delicious breakfast at the treaty of paris restaurant. The rooms are well decorated, ours was a nice size with a sitting room. The bathroom is small but considering the building dates back to the revolutionary period, you can't expect anything more. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is tricky so valet is the way to go ($25). We were in the Maryland house so we can't speak for the other buildings but they looked nice as well.

I booked the King Suite and was extremely disappointed. The room was horribly small the the bathroom shower was worse. The noise from a window heater/ac unit was so disturbing sleep was impossible. This was a complete waste of money for a birthday celebration. We left after 2 hours of trying to get to sleep. Since we stayed at the Maryland Inn the check in desk was at the other hotel. No one there at that location. No vending machines for refreshments. Would never go back!!!

At a conference this summer we stayed at the Historic Inns of Annapolis. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, both in terms of the conference itself and in terms of recommendations for our free time. The rooms were lovely too. Many of them were historic and charming. Another plus was the location--it was within easy walking distance of all the restaurants, stores, and sights of downtown Annapolis and the waterfront. All in all, I'd highly recommend this site for any visit to Annapolis.
