“Loved it!”
Reviewed September 30, 2009

I loved this quaint litte hotel! I loved the historic aspects of the inn and my room was more than I expected. I had never been to Annapolis before and found the location of the hotel to be very convenient for someone traveling alone in a city they have never been to before. My only complaints were my bed was very, very noisy, but I loved my room so much i didn't feel to the need to complain and no night time room service.

Charming, beautifully decorated, spacious room. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Lots of nice extra touches like extra pillows and linens. Windows that actually opened for fresh air. Nice spread of coffee and muffins in the morning. Only complaint was the vending machines were out of water for 3 days. Bring your own water to be on the safe side.

I travel down to the Baltimore/Annapolis area frequently for work. The majority of my stays are at the Historic Inns of Annapolis. Always clean, always great service and the location is fantastic. Just steps from the water, great restaurants, shopping, etc. Once in a while I get a room where the shower is on the small side but remember, this is an historic location. Sometimes you have to give a little to get a little. Other than that, I have never had a complaint here and look forward to many more stays.

The air conditioner unit in the window was so noisy it kept me awake most of the night and though the room was quaint, the bathtub was dirty. There were no staff present at The Maryland House to talk to about these issues and the male staff member we did encounter at the Calvert House was quite rude.
There was a woman at the front desk who was very pleasant and greeted us with a smile and friendly conversation. The location was great.

This place is definately a modern hotel but if you are afraid of getting over charged at the bed and breakfast that will be more like staying at grandma's house than a hotel, this is a great alternative.

Its right downtown off the main strip, its quite and in a beautiful location. The rooms were clean and good size. The staff is helpful, took time to show us the map of the area, made restaurant suggestions and suggested site seeing ideas.

The room only had one window which overlooked an interior atrium but it had good light. The A/C was loud and blew too hard and there was no fan in the bathroom but otherwise the rooms are very pleasant. Check our their restaurant at the Maryland Inn (the Treaty of Paris, very good brunch).

The only downfall is the valet parking is $24 per night and there really is not an alternative. I commented on it on their comment card but since everywhere else around there is 2 hour max parking, they kind of have you by the throat on that one. They do load your bags though and provide good directions back to the highway.

The staff was never available. The floor and the furniture was very old and dirty looking. The ceiling light was broken and hanging. The closet light did not work at all. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was broken. The lighting in all of the rooms was very low and dull. We were told upon arrival that we were being upgraded to a suite. When we entered our "upgrade" we realized that we had lost our king bed and had been down-graded to a musty smelling queen suite. I am not sure if anyone had stayed in this room for years. I was very unhappy with this hotel.

For over-the-top courtesies by staff that seeks to accommodate your every wish, the Historic Inns of Annapolis can't be beaten! On our second stay there in the past three years, my wife awakened in the middle of the night, not feeling well. We went downstairs and explained our situation. The night reservation person promptly got the Inns' driver to take us across town to a Walgreens, waited while we obtained medication, and returned us the the Inn. What a tremendous courtesy! That attitude and response underscores the dedication and desire to serve that highlights what we recommend the facility without reservation to all. In addition, the rooms are beautifully appointed, the Inns are but two blocks from the historic waterfront, and across the street from the State Capitol. An automobile is unnecessary. Enjoy!
