If you are in Annapolis and decide to cross the bridge into Eastport to explore restaurant row I would pass by Blackwall Hitch unless your are just looking for a drink. The management of Blackwall Hitch did an excellent job of transforming the Old Rockfish. The interior is really charming, done well, and the addition of a deck on the second floor overlooking Annapolis is really nice. So if you are just looking to have a drink both levels are very inviting.
However, after this the rating goes down hill. I have eaten here twice and both times the food was very bland. They describe it very well but it just doesn't meet it's expectations. Even the desert, supposedly a chocolate brownie sundae tasted like dry chocolate cake.(how do you blow a brownie?).
The staff definitely needs some training, from the hostess who refuses to seat you on the upper deck, even thou there is plenty of empty space and there supposedly no reservations accepted for this area, to the kitchen which gets so backed up they stop seating people even thou there's tables available.
So if you decide to cross into Eastport, make a left at the light and enjoy the likes of the Boat Yard, Lewnes, Chart House or Ruth Christ or make a righ and enjoy Vin 909 or Adams Ribs and know that any of the above will be able to offer good food, trained staff and an enjoyable time.
