“A splendid low-key treasure”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

Start with Sunday brunch and mimosas with real orange juice on the house. Strong and welcome Greek influence. Cream of crab soup, soft shell crabs in season, oysters, clams, superb potatoes, reasonable prices, very friendly and good service. A rare find given the industrial tourist restaurants in Annapolis.m

“Restaurant Week - Delicious!”
Reviewed February 28, 2014

We went for dinner on a Thursday night during Annapolis Restaurant week. The place was packed - very glad we made a reservation.

This restaurant has always been highly recommended, but it is a little off the beaten path from downtown Annapolis. This is probably more a good thing.

The food was awesome. For appetizers, I tried both the oysters on the half shell and the oysters rockefeller. These were both out-of-this-world amazing. The oysters were from nearby Harris Creek, and were perfectly fresh with full flavors and great texture. The half shell's were served with a nice mignonette sauce, while the rockefellers were cooked with spinach and applewood bacon. These had a great balance that really let the oyster flavor and texture come through.

My main course was the pan seared southern grouper with a white bean salad and lemon chili vinaigrette served over rice. This was nicely presented and also very fresh and delicious. I was also able to try the broiled sea scallops, which were very tasty but a little small (and they only served 4 for the entree). I was not able to try the pork osso bucco, but I saw many many plates of it around the restaurant, and it looked amazing.

While the service was rather slow, I guess this was to be expected because they were so busy for restaurant week. Our server was also able to give us a great wine recommendation for our meal, so that ups his brownie points. I am definitely looking forward to returning to try their regular greek fare.

“What's Old is New Again”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

Paul's has been a main fixture in Annapolis for many years. The family that owns it goes back before the area on West Street started to enjoy a rebirth of its own. We went over the recent holidays with a group of 14 and the food, service and facilities could NOT have been nicer. There is a lot of traditional Annapolis type foods served here, such as the Crab Cakes, and there is also a slight slant towards Greek food, as well. What could be better? Our guests enjoyed everything from the appetizers to the dessert and everything in between. It is not an inexpensive to visit, but it is NOT outrageous, either. If you are looking for a really good white table cloth meal, served in a lovely setting by a very knowledgeable and attentive staff, Paul's should be on your short list.

“No tuna for us!”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

We asked for a Grilled Tuna item and Grilled Tuna Liguine ($13) but they were out of Tuna ( Rats ) so had the Grilled Salmon greek salad and chicken liguine($10) . I forgot to order aldente pasta and it came well done -which is a very no-no (listen to the TV Dr. O show). I asked the waitress and Paul's, like many other places, cook the pasta beforehand so pasta aldente is not available. The grilled salmon greek salad was ok, nothing special. Halfway through the meal we were asked if we wanted bread , said yes. That was nice, don't know if it came with the meal or she was treating us nice. The place was crowded so they must be dong OK but no TUNA for us.

“A Local Annapolis Gem”
Reviewed January 24, 2014

It's so nice to see the many locally owned restaurants in Annapolis. Pauls' Homewood Café is one of them -- and it has been around for quite a while. They say they do traditional Mediterranean cuisine and I would agree but more of the eastern Mediterranean, closeer to the Ionain Sea. Translation -- Greek influence. And everything they do is terrific. Just close your eyes and point. You will not be disappointed. Also, their wine list is great. Many California Central Coast wines, too.
