“Good, not outstanding”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

We had unexpectedly good crab cakes here. The size was substantial and they were full of crab, not filler. Still, they were not exactly exciting. Maybe filler is needed to add a little pizazz to them. they were also served with Kraft tartar sauce in a little foil packet. Tacky. I think they would be better off if they would make their own tartar sauce. Their cocktail sauce seemed home made and it was better on the crab cakes, but if I'd made it, I would have put in more horseradish. I did enjoy the sweet potato fries.

“Nice location, poor food”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

The crabcakes were fine -- nice lump crab meat, but other wise a bit dried out and uninteresting -- but at $30.00 for two modest sized cakes as an entree, the rest of the meal was really pretty awful. Tartar sauce is Kraft in a little plastic peal top tub; hush puppies were heavy, dried out and tasteless; french fries were cold and probably frozen; the fish in a fish sandwich was dry (Overcooking seafood is a theme here); and asparagus as a side was unrecognizable. The wait staff are friendly but forgetful. A place like this should -- and can -- do a lot better. Possibly a better experience for just eating crabs and drinking beer.

“Great for Blue Crab”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Location was right off the Chesapeake Bay. Great menu...we ordered the ex large blue crabs and ordered 20 for the 4 of us with 4 cobs of corn. Waiter was friendly and helpful. Don't wear anything nice :-) eating crab isn't for the neat and tidy! But it is fun and tasty! The only negative is that they cram as many tables inside and out as possible. There is barely any room to walk. Thus the best table is the back outside corner table...great view.

“lovely spot outside of town”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

We live in DC, and whenever we are inspired to drive to Annapolis for crabs we always head to Cantler's. It is a bit of a drive out of town, so you need a car. But it is nice to sit by the water, and if it isn't too hot, sit under the sun. Crabs are always reasonably priced and good quality - hush puppies also good. Great for families.
