“"Friendly, Unpretentious, Waterfront Dining Experience"”

This is a "down home" style, waterfront seafood extravaganza. You have the choice of inside or outside on the large deck to engage in the crab feast of the year. This is Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab country and this restaurant is famous for fresh caught crabs and local fresh fish selections. There is also a large bar at one end of the inside dining room. The location is on a cove within a residentail neighborhood and occupies about an acre of land along the water which affords a good deal of parking availability. The menu is a about local caught seafood and is delicious. You can have your choices prepared anyway you desire. I would have to say the environment is "get down and get dirty" with it. You won't find white table cloths here, nor would you want to. Eating crabs is fun and pretty messy, but most definately worth all the effort. They also have wonderful clams and oysters if you are into the bivalves. Being raised along the Jersey Shore, my wife and I love this style of restaurant at times because it doesn't require a lot of polished table manners. If you are in search of great seafood, locally caught fresh choices for a decent fair market price, this is the best place to park it in Annapolis. Have a ball, and enjoy the good life!

We arrived in Annapolis on a beautiful day from Alexandria, for a carefree day of fun [the town of Annapolis and the Naval Yard] didn't let us down but thirst and hunger finally got to us so we headed here as it was highly recommended by "Southern Living" and others.
We were not disappointed [finding a parking space is difficult, as you have too waite in your car for a opening b4 the attendent will let you in too their parking lot] the atmosphere was great (very casual) and the food even better. Had delicious (they come spicy) platter of hard shell crabs and 4 beers $$49.00 but it was enough for the two of us.
I believe the price range should be indicated higher..
The service was good, our waitress great and the food arrived in a timely manner especially considering how busy they were.
I can usually find something to criticize, but this meet my expectations for a crab joint.

“Maryland Blue Crabs... BIG ONES!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

This is becoming one of my favorite crab joints. You MUST arrive when they open at 11am to ensure a good table outside (view of the river) and the "big ones." They consistently have "Supers" (usually about 6 1/2 inches) and the service has never let me down. They have great hush puppies -- just order a side... that's enough for three/four. If you come late, be prepared to wait. You might even have to wait in your car on the road in. When the lot is full people wait in their cars for the next spot to open. Lines/crowds are not as bad now (October) and the crabs are still decent size. Last weekend we got a dozen x-large -- no Supers. After you eat walk down to the docks and check out the live wells with crabs, horseshoe crabs, fish, turtles, you name it.

“Tasty crabs!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

On a rainy drive back from Dover to DC on night, my friends and I made a stop in Annapolis to eat at Cantler's Riverside Inn. It was highly ranked on yelp. The all-you-can-eat blue crabs and corn was very tasty even after all the hard work to get to the good stuff. The Old Bay spices were a great touch to the sweet meat of the blue crabs. I would definitely like to come back and enjoy the atmosphere and surroundings in the daylight.

“Tourist Trap”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

Ate there last night, Oct 1st, the food was terrible! I was so looking forward to crabs, had only had them once so far this year. The large males were $50 per dozen. We ordered them, they were small, green inside not very fresh, a few of them were bad. Someone ordered the fish tacos. They were strange. A strange spice was on them and a "queso" cheese. Turned out to be crumbled queso fresco cheese that was weird. No slaw- when do you get fish tacos no slaw. The soup was decent that I had so I recommended it to the others. When they ordered it, there's came out different looking as though they were running out and thinned it w cream. The steamed shrimp were large, but tough, and again that weird spice on the potatoes that came with the shrimp. Never again will we waste such money- the only Cantlers offers good is a view!
