My husband and I enjoy a going up to Annapolis from our home in DC, and Middleton's is at the top of our list. The menu isn't fancy, and it's on the pricey side for dinner, but the seafood has been great. We've seen families and couples--it seems to cater to everyone.

We saw Middletons on a TV ad but never thought much about it. While walking by and attempting to stave off a thirst we ventured in. The mussels were cooked right in front of us. The happy hour was the bargain of our trip. If you are looking for shrimp or mussels you have to go there

Middleton Tavern in downtown Annapolis has been there for a long, long, long time!!! However, that doesn't mean it's tired and run down, but just very good at what they do. The seafood specials at happy hour (at the bar only) are fabulous. A bucket of perfectly seasoned and steamed mussels, oyster shooters, steamed shrimp and more!! The price is unbeatable!

$58 for two for lunch - crab cake sandwich, one bowl of soup, one appetizer. What a rip off and tourist trap! Never again.

Middleton Tavern is a landmark on the Annapolis waterfront. I have eaten at Middleton Tavern on occasion throughout the years and am drawn back time and again because of the restaurant's wonderful combination of good food, charming decor and rich history.

This is the second oldest operating tavern in the country which makes a visit worth while in and of itself. The restaurant manager was happy to share the story of the building which has been functioning as a tavern since 1750.

However, the delicious seafood, oyster bar and reasonably priced fare make it the ideal stop for a meal while visiting Annapolis. I had a friendly server who knew how to balance good service without being intrusive.

I was lucky enough to have a seat by the warm fire on a cold day - an added treat. I could imagine George Washington warming himself by the same fire while making his way between Mount Vernon and Philadelphia

If you love dining in historic places, Middleton Tavern is your place in Annapolis.
