“Lost in Time”
Reviewed March 25, 2014

I've been stopping in here since the late 1960's when Chick and Ruth still manned the counters. Now run by their son Ted it is a casual deli style diner specializing in great breakfasts and a vast assortment of sandwiches and burgers. This is the place that locals go. This is the place that the governor and legislators go when they need to sneak out of the nearby state house. This is the place that you still stand an recite the pledge of allegiance every morning. This is not gourmet dining by any means. It is good, hearty food served with a smile as it has been for so many years.

“A don't miss when in Annapolis”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

There's more to this place than just the food. It's a social gathering place where one is forced to socialize with one's neighbors. It's a very tight place, but it's supposed to be. The food is fine - nothing extraordinary, but it's done well. The menu is enormous as is any diner type place. We've had a lot of different things there. But who would have ever thought of a crab cake on eggs benedict. Now that's eating. And a $35 milkshake - that's news (they do have smaller ones). And made the right way. 5 pound burgers (and smaller ones too). The crab cakes are good - big and lots of big lump crab - maybe a little too much filler, but still good.

But the main reason we go there, and it's all about timing, is to be able to stand and say the Pledge to the Flag - 8:30 on weekdays - 9:30 on weekends. Now that makes for a special day. Don't miss it. And oh year, get the chocolate top cookies - in case you get hungry after a $35 milk shake....

“Greasy, boisterous deli/diner experience”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

C&R's for breakfast is pretty much an Annapolis institution. If you want to eat food that your cardiologist would recommend against, this is the place to go. This is NOT nouvelle cuisine, nor is their any attempt to make the meals look more upscale than they are. It is just run-of-the-mill greasy spoon fare, but they make a good cup of coffee. Wait Staff friendliness rises to an almost "Welcome to Baltimore, Hon" level. Service is fast. Make sure your check accurately reflect what you ordered. Several times (in 25+ year period) we received what we asked for, but bill showed something different.

“Great crab cakes”
Reviewed March 14, 2014 via mobile

I had my crab cake in a wrap instead of a sandwich or plain, with cooked onions and tomato. It was amazing. Seems like a great local place to get a feel for how small town Annapolis is.

“Better Places to Eat”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

This is a good place to eat at ONCE. There are much better places to get a good meal. Food is questionable, at best. Restaurant is very cramped and food is extremely greasy. A short walk in a direction will give you better food.
