I went with my large extended family of approximately 15 people for a Sunday breakfast. Here is my honest and unbiased opinion of Chick and Ruth's Delly:

First of all, they are to be applauded for their dedication to serve men and women, past and current. What a great place to eat with a military flair! I guess it's only appropriate being they are located in downtown Annapolis, MD home of the Navel Academy.

The place is very small, busy, and hard to maneuver inside, but the atmosphere makes up for it. The Pledge of Alliance is spoken at specific times by all the diners, how patriotic! The service was excellent, especially for us being a large group. The food was good, but I was not jumping for joy with my crab and cheese omelet, which is a specialty and recommended plate of the house. This is my opinion and maybe others fee different.

I would definitely recommend eating here and experiencing the patriotic environment. Oh, look at the lights and see what is hanging! I hope they are changed out once in a while, LOL.

Enjoy the experience!

I just love this sort of place - one that has never been under the influence of a "restaurant concept professional". It appears that EVERYONE in Annapolis eats here. They are apparently famous for their crabcakes - my companion had them and agreed; I am more the deli type, and when I ordered a simple pastrami sandwich, the waitresss was concerned that it might be "small"; well, I think if you order the larger deli sandwiches on offer there you might as well go have a stent put in that afternoon. So good we went back the next day. As busy as it was, they manage efficiently (but it must be a real zoo in season). Probably not best for those who don't like close quarters, or are mobility impaired, but if you have the chance, go at least once.

FUN, enjoyable and good food. A great place to go with a family or kids - humongous portions that no doubtedly put it on the radar of "Man vs Food". Six pound milkshakes and sandwiches and burgers the size of your head!
The crab cakes are good, the patty melt every bit a wonderful diner staple. The family owned operators make sure to keep it a place to make memories in while surrounded by thousands of photos of people who have done just that.
Don't miss it. Make the stop. Indulge in things that you may normally pass on because it is part of the tradition and visit.

Excellent old style deli sandwiches with an extensive menus. Sandwiches named after local politician are a fun way to order. Cornbeef on rye almost as good as 34st deli in NYC. Service a bit crazy but Uncle Ted keeps then things moving with a happy attitude. A must for breakfast or lunch while in Annapolis
