Much enjoyed our stay in Annapolis (apart from incessant rain) and our various strolls into the historic part of the town. A lovely place.

Historic Annapolis is totally walkable. Park your car. Walk to shops, taverns, boats, water taxi, and sail on Chesapeke bay for the afternoon

Very pretty, I'd love to live in this area. Running/walking/window shopping/eating/drinking . . . perfect!

Annapolis is one of the most beautiful downtown areas I have visited (and yes, I'm biased!) - with tons of colonial, revolutionary, and nautical history that the locals are very proud of. Worth spending a day exploring on foot, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Go ahead and get the visitor center map, but don't miss Maryland Avenue, which has some of my favorite haunts in Annapolis: The Annapolis Bookstore (a quirky local gem), Annabeth's, a unique wine and gifts shop, and Galway Bay, an atomspheric Irish Pub. Also, if you're in a shopping mood, don't miss Irish Traditions on Main Street. For historic building tours, the Hammond-Harwood House has the most architecturally interesting interior for me, but don't miss out on touring the Paca (pronounced Pay-kuh) Gardens. It's also relaxing resting on the one of the benches along the City Dock and the State House Grounds when you need a break. The best thing about downtown Annapolis is not to overplan - it's the kind of the town that is perfect for exploring and coming across its unique gems.

Tip: Parking is a challenge, but there is free 9-hour parking on King George Street next to St. John's College. The walk from there to downtown is short, and very scenic!

While living n Maryland, I made multiple trips per year to Annapolis and enjoyed window shopping, finding the odd item and stopping in for a light meal.
