Annapolis is truly a charming state capital. Nestled on the Chesapeake Bay Annapolis is a quiet city with a delightful colonial charm. If you love the old world feel then you will find plenty to please. Also come ready for crab and other seafood. If you prefer the fast-paced life of a big city then this is not for you. Annapolis is best in the spring and summer when the weather is nice. Lastly, it is best to be prepared to walk since most of the immediate downtown is best accessed by foot.

If you are interested in U.S. history or sailing, the Annapolis Towne Centre is for you. Very picturesque and quaint with plenty of shops and good restaurants. The harbor is right in the center of downtown. You will see plenty of sailboats and can visit the US Naval Academy which literally touches the Towne Centre. Annapolis is a great place to visit and easy to get around. You have a good selection of hotels, both downtown and 12-15 minutes away along the interstate highway. History buffs will be amazed at the role Annapolis played during the early years of our country. You will enjoy visiting Annapolis !!!

Parking is not easy. If you can find a good space near the capitol you will have a good time. The capitol building is the prettiest one I have ever visited. Wear comfortable shoes because this pretty little town has hills. Plan your route to head generally downhill toward the harbor. We usually designate one person to hike back up the hills when we are almost finished. A couple of times a year they put Christmas type lights on the boats in the harbor. The renaissance festival takes place outside the town from August to October. This is one town I would consider buying a seat on a tour vehicle.

Little shops along the coastline, great food- try the crab cakes or fish & chips at Galway's Pub, delicious! Our Annapolis friends had not tried it and they said they will go back. The Ice Cream Factory is great, best ice cream! many antiques shops, boutiques, just a pleasant stroll and everywhere something to see. We toured the Paca House and Gardens, a must-see.

The heart of the state, this quaint capitol city has small shops, interesting restaurants and a water at nearly ever turn. THis is an easy walking town, park in a garage and and enjoy strolling the streets. Fine food at every turn, if you like charming and pleasant, then this is the stop for you. Only steps from the Naval Academy there is almost always something going on in this charming big town with a small town feel.
