“Great falafel, but a few things need fixing”
Review of Amsterdam Falafel Shop - CLOSED

I love falafel, and I love the concept of Amsterdam Falafelshop. It is cheap, tasty, and fast. This location in downtown Anapolis is great, too - a really nice alternative to the nice sit-down seafood joints if you are just looking for a little snack on the cheap.

The falafel is great and the servings are generous (and if you aren't familiar with the concept, you get to heap on as many toppings as you like/as fit into your pita) but this just isn't a 4 or 5 star place.

Complaints:
-I know that the Market Space is in the middle of a big renovation and AC is not really available at the moment, but that is all the more reason to protect the food. The door was open to let in fresh air (understandably), but in addition to fresh air coming in, so did flies. All of the toppings are uncovered, and I saw more than a couple of flies buzzing around the trays of baba ganoush and tahini and salata. Oy. Put a cover on those trays, people!

-Staff. Ok, I get it, teenagers need jobs too. The young man taking orders (and ostensibly doing all the work) was great, but there were two other gals working there who didn't seem to be doing much of anything except chewing gum, hugging on their friends who came in to visit, and chowing down on fries behind the counter. Even if you don't have the most exciting job in the world, it doesn't hurt to put a smile on your face and act interested in your work.

Atmosphere is lacking due to renovation. Tasty falafel crunchy outside moist inside. The topping bar had me happy even without the falafel. Unlike grumpy Rich D, hummus, baba gannoush, dill yogurt & lots more are not spicy at all. There is a very nice harissa though if you like heat.
Service was fun&young but the place is clean & they are helpful with advice on what to top the sandwich with.
Music echoed due to emptiness but hard rock cafe is much louder.
Good location nice food 7$ for a huge sandwich, wish they had more outdoor sitting. Rich D just stay home & go to McD next time

I have been eating falafel for years and have had them in some of the most famous places in NYC (Mamouns..). This place brings a light of hope for the infamous "Market House". The food is great (fresh, nutritious, flavorful). I will be back to the Market House, more often for sure. I can't wait for the entire Market House to open....
