We have taken our children to the Naval Academy on numerous occasions. Each time, it is special for all of us. Beautifully maintained, it is a pleasure to stroll around. In addition, the statues on campus and the knowledgeable tour guides provide a bounty of information about the institution and its history (as well as the history of the country).

A wonderful tour filled with historical tidbits about the beginnings, traditions, and current customs at the academy. About 90 minutes.

It sounds corny, but visiting the US Naval Academy (on a steamy day, no less) reminded me of how lucky I am to live here. Our tour guide was outstanding, really one of the best volunteer guides I've ever had anywhere, and the tour was interesting. Front desk person was not very helpful, but otherwise an A+ all around. Well worth $10.

The facility is quiet and quite large. There is plenty to see on a walking tour and the view of the bay is very good.

What a fascinating and fantastic site. Unfortunately for us, we arrived at 7 pm and only had an hour to spend walking around. The location on the water is beautiful and the buildings/sites are historic and picturesque. I had just finished reading "The Admirals" so I wanted to find the four buildings named after the WWII admirals. We parked on the street (as a civilian we could not drive in) and walked through the pedestrian gate. Right outside the entrance there is a map on the wall. Since we entered after the museum was closed, we should have taken a picture of the map so we could navigate. We were required to show a picture ID and pass through a metal detector. Once inside we explored most of the campus for an hour and a half. That was well short of the amount of time that should be devoted here. I am ready to go back to see the tomb of John Paul Jones and the museum. This is a great place.
