“Beautiful Scenery!”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

Cost is $5/person. Beach is very clean, beautiful view of the Bay Bridge, couple of volleyball nets, concession stand (chicken fingers [very good!], fries, smoothies, Italian ice, drinks, few other items). Plenty of grills & picnic tables. Not many people there on May 4th. Definitely plan to go back soon! Only complaint is that there weren't any trash cans...there are a few dumpsters but no trash cans, so I had to carry my trash around with me while we walked along the water's edge because I didn't want to litter.

“Pretty view of the Bay Bridge, great boat docks, dogs allowed in winter”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

This state park has a beautiful view of the bay bridge. Dogs are allowed in the park and on the beaches (on leash) October-April. It's a smaller park, but it does have a little hiking trail (to the right after you enter the park) The trail is easy, and small but takes you out over the marsh area and near the pond, it seems to be an area not as heavily utilized as the beach area. Beaches are pretty, but very crowded on warm weekends an holidays. During the winter it's not so bad, but during the summer we often find ourselves picking up litter along the beaches there. Boat ramps are plentiful and large with lots of parking. It is our favorite spot to drop our boat in the water for quick access to the bay.

“Nice Christmas lights, good close spot on the water in the area”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

This is a nice place in the off season around the Christmas Holidays as you can drive through the park for a small fee and see the light display. In the spring it's a cool place to go walk your dog., In the summer you can cook out there and be on the beach on the bay, swim and chill out until it gets packed in the summer. Then you have to go early. I wouldn't go on the weekends. Don't look for white sand, I think it was manmade (the beach part) the sand is really yellow and dies your clothes and blankets. Only down fall. I wish they would have whiter sand. Sounds silly but other than that ti's an ok place to go! You are directly by the Bay Bridge and it's a pretty view.

“Fun in the sun”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Hang out on the beach, fish, play in the water. Go for a walk on the trail. Sandy Point has lots of things to keep you busy. Lots of fun.

“Dirty, disappointing, don't bother”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

The locals use Sandy Point to launch boats. The public beach areas are poorly maintained. The restrooms are often locked except during special events. The most fun to be had at the beach is the 'Polar Bear Plunge' in January. I can't comment about the camping.
During the winter holidays, there is a drive through holiday light display. There are fees collected per car.
