I was absolutely impressed with this museum and what a wonderful way to educate your children of all ages and races. This is a must visit place and your guaranteed to learn something new. The artifacts were amazing and the detail to history was awesome. I challenge everyone to donate at least $25 or more each visit because it’s worth it to keep this history alive. I had the pleasure of meeting outreach coordinator LeRonn H. I plan to revisit this museum again because the entire area is outstanding. The museum was neat, clean and well organized. They had elevators for those that needed it. Parking is a challenge on the street but plenty available at the harbor which is a short walk to the museum. Two Thumbs up!! See you there on my next visit. ENjoy!!

This is a small museum, dedicated to the African-American experience in Maryland. It is pitched somewhat to children, so it doesn't go too indepth into a lot of topics. It's also covering a lot of history. But it's well put together, and explains a lot of topics that I think the average person might not know much about. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit!

The Banneker-Douglas Museum deserves to be much better known than it is. It is more in-depth and interesting than most local museums of a similar size. Though the exhibit hardly takes an hour to go through, it carefully covers the history of African Americans in Annapolis and Maryland, from famous figures like Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman to less well known, but no less impressive, people like Benjamin Banneker. Make sure to talk to the security guard, who can give you more information on any subject you’re curious about. This is the place to go for those who want to learn about the real Annapolis beyond the made-for-tourists “historical” downtown. Fully wheelchair accessible, and free!

This is a small museum, but it's packed with so much history. Now more than ever, it's important to learn about Maryland's history and the impact historical figures had on shaping our country. The layout is beautiful and the people working there are very friendly. It doesn't take too long to look through everything, about an hour should do it!
