This is a small museum that is rich with local African American history. Well worth the time. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

“And it's FREE!”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Very nice museum. Good location - just a block from Church circle. Well presented exhibits. Temperature controlled. Clean bathrooms. Staff was really friendly and good humored. Places to sit if someone is tired and finished early. Elevators available.

“A special, simple Gem”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We had two opportunities to visit this museum for the first time in many years. The museum is small and professionally presented. A draw back would be that there is simply not enough space to adequately tell a more complete story, both of the marvelous people who are covered by the museum as well as many, many important historic figures who probably have to be excluded based on size....and perhaps funding.

It is well worth a visit and leaves you wanting more.

“A piece of Maryland History”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Great museum highlighting the little known black history of Maryland. Interactive displays. The best part was talking to the staff as they told the stories from personal account. And free!! Off the beaten path so not that easy to find but definitely worth the visit.
