“A quick but worthwhile visit”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

Have a few minutes to spare- see the State House. It has a few rooms of historic interest on the first floor. They are beautifully redone to keep in with the original designers intent.

“Under construction”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

We visited the Maryland State House over Christmas break and found it deserted. No tours and one of the historic chambers was closed for renovations. Still, it was worth a visit.

“Very Historic - Very Quiet”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

Visited on a Sunday morning. Besides the security staff, my wife and I were the only ones in the State House. Lots of good history from the site of George Washington's resignation as Commander in Chief of The Continental Army in 1783 to the signing of the Treaty of Paris to end the revolutionary war. Nice huge Christmas tree with Maryland kids' handmade ornaments on it. Nice building with some good historic recreations. Worth stopping in for history and architecture buffs.

“Nice slice of colonial history”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

Prominently standing in the midst of many historic houses is the Maryland State House. Both history and architecture fans will love this Maryland slice of the colonial era. Even George Washington visited. It's free and interesting.

“Historic Capital”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Annapolis was once the capital of the United States, and the capital building was the place where George Washington resigned his commission at the end of the Revolutionary War, an unprecedented action at that time, paving the way for a democratic country, rather than a military dictatorship. Many signers of the Declaration of Independence lived in Annapolis, and one can visit their homes within a few blocks of the capital.
