The B & A Trail is well used especially during the spring, summer and fall months. It is kept nicely groomed and it is a relaxing wallk or ride to Annapolis.

I love raiding and walking on the B&A. It takes about three hours to ride from Glen Burnie to the Severn River bridge and back. Longer if you opt to ride over the bridge into Annapolis, which I recommend. However, the streets can get very congested on the weekends.

If you want to walk or run, be careful. Many bikes. A casual ride could last all day. All paved and mostly trees. Many food and drink stops the entire distance. Pack a lunch or bring money for subs. Watch for the dogy poo if you leave the trail. Many people walk their dogs and leave their poo for your shoe..

The trail itself is maintained very well. If you ride the trail from just outside of Annapolis up to and around BWI airport, you will cover forty miles. The Annapolis end of the trail is surrounded by very nice wooded neighborhoods. The end of the trail that circles the airport is fun, with two spots to stop and watch the planes take off and land. The section of the trail just past the Marley Station Mall through Glen Burnie is the least desirable section of the trail and while I personally have never experience any trouble, I have had friends who have been concerned with young kids that live in the nearby apartments. It is suggested that you avoid that area in the late afternoon just before dark. The trail is patrolled by Park Rangers.
