I am really pulling for this place to succeed. The food is usually quite good. The location is out of the way - it's hard to stumble across it. I have been here several times, usually on Sunday after church. It is (sadly) rarely crowded at those times. I have to say that during my most recent visit the service was appalling considering the relative emptiness of the restaurant. It seemed that only one waitress was working the dining room. During my visit, one party was seated when I came in and only two more parties came in during the course of my visit. The waitress said she was watching the soccer game in the kitchen. At least she was honest. Everything took forever and the credit card machine was out of order - which I was not told until I attempted to pay with one. The waitress said they could take my card to another location, but by this time I had been in the restaurant for FAR too long.
On this visit, my food was OK - I ordered the fried oyster po boy. I would not order it again. The breading on the oysters was heavy and tasteless. The bread, which was described as 'crusty french bread,' was neither. I have had good meals here in the past. I have to say that my overall experience here has been uneven. They need to call the guy who spies on the staff and figure out what to do to save this potentially very good restaurant.
