We decided to celebrate the non-ending of the world last night by visiting Mamie's. If you haven't been there at Christmas, you're missing a real treat! It's usually strewn with knickknacks, right? Well, at Christmas every possible surface (horizontal AND vertical) is covered with an astonishing array of Christmas decorations.

I wanted comfort food: Their AMAZING corn fritters, then ground surloin steak with onions, gravy and mashed potatoes. Jane had Maryland Crab Soup and Rockfish stuffed with crabmeat. All delicious and wonderful! And brownies for dessert (which we brought home).

I think their corn fritters would be amazing for breakfast with maple syrup, or for dessert with powdered sugar. Whatever you order, get the Corn Fritters! They are lightly fried, crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Just wonderful. Wonderful!

We giggled about the mismatched dinnerware, and wild assortment of dining tables. The place is a museum of vintage housewares. Highly entertaining!

Go to Mamie's this Christmas. You will NOT be sorry.

We have been to Mamies several times and never had a bad meal. The menu is full of good comfort food and the portions are generous. The meatloaf is HUGE and there are always left overs to take home for later. The cafe is decorated with TONS of photos and other items which give it an eclectic atmosphere. We LOVE the wonderful rice pudding they have for dessert. The prices are good and the staff is friendly and attentive.

I've been here several times and have never been disappointed. This is a great place to go during the holidays since they have spent a lot of time decorating. The food and prices are good and the portions are generous. Dessert is included with every meal which is always a treat.

We were looking for lunch along Route 95 south on our drive to DC. We try hard to eat at local restaurants rather than your typical chains so we were happy to find Mamie's Cafe. The food was very good food. Tons of old photos on the wall made for interesting conversation and the staff was very friendly. Would definitely stop there again!

As others have said, this place has home cookin' down pat. don't expect haute cuisine and you will leave satisfied, in more ways than one. We came up from Bel Air, but I would recommend Mamie's to our friends in the greater Baltimore area. The Saturday we had dinner, it was crowded, with a short wait outside. Spouse had the pot roast, very tender and tasty. I had seafood pasta with calamari, shrimp, and clams; all were cooked just right, not tough or chewy, with small tender calamari, including the tentacles (the best part). Not for a quiet, romantic, candlelight dinner, but the decor is very unusual and wildly interesting. Have fun!
