Friendly welcome and overview of Capitol. Interior is much less ornate than most other Capitols we have visited but interior was very classy and elegant. House and Senate were very impressive as was the Hall of Flags. Enjoyed our visit!

We were lucky to have a personal tour of the building only because there was no one else for the 10am session !. The tour guide (Don or Dan???) was very very good. He knew a lot about the history of the building but also the governmental workings for the state. We saw and stood in both the senate and representatives - that was a great experience.

Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to visitors and locals alike.

We visited December 2012.

Beautiful StateCapital, everyone was sooo nice! The building design and the layout are the most beautiful....the dome is the bomb!

I love state capitol buildings and tour them whenever I can. Maine's is plain compared to many, but its history is rich and interesting.

Parking is free next to the museum, then you walk up a slight hill to the capitol building. I recommend starting at the top floor and walking down the stairs, inspecting each level as you reach it.

The Senate chamber was open, but the House is under construction, so we could only peek in.

Outside is beautiful but the inside isn't spectacular. Wouldn't waste time going inside. No one helpful inside either
