My wife and I used the Sleepy Time Motel as our base while visiting family in nearby Lewiston and searching for property in southern Maine. What a great experience! This is a lovingly renovated "old school" motel where you park your car outside one of the six rooms. The owners live in a home attached at one end. First of all, let me say our room was impeccably clean and the staff kept it that way throughout our one week stay. The beds were first rate and I could swear they changed the linens daily, that's how crisp they were. There's free WiFi, cable TV with a wall mounted flat screen, a stocked coffee maker, small fridge and a cupboard with mugs, glasses, wine goblets, paper plates, and other handy items. The Sleepy Time sits on a beautiful piece of property (an old family farm) with a wooded area complete with several trails. The owners will give you a trail map if you're interested. In terms of convenience, My hiking shoes got a bit muddy during my excursion, so I left them just outside my room door. When I returned that afternoon, they were brushed clean. (Thanks, staff. Nice touch!)

STM is right off the Maine Turnpike at the Auburn Exit #75. There are some brand new convenience stores including a Dunkin' Donuts nearby. From now on, when I need a hotel in the Lewiston/Auburn area, I'll bypass the chain hotels and stay at the Sleepy Time.

Room Tip: Rooms in the middle have better WiFi reception.

I stayed for 3 nights in June 2014 - the welcome was warm, the room spacious and clean and the towels plentiful and fluffy. Chester the cat provided a highlight on arrival as he is certainly the star of the show.
The rooms have a fridge, microwave and utensils, as well as this bottled water was provided. The motel is quiet considering that it is near a main road and really convenient for the freeway.
The owners are jusifiably proud of their home and motel and I would really recommend it as a convenient and value for money stopover

Room Tip: There are only six rooms - so don't delay in booking when searching

My Wife, Daughter and I stayed here for a couple of days while we were visiting back home for my Fathers 80th birthday...Great quiet location, nice CLEAN rooms and the folks who run it are pleasant and professional to deal with, in todays crazy world what more could one ask for...So in short, yes we would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay

Room Tip: None to add, all are good

This motel was the highlight of our 6 day long Maine vacation accommodation wise. We stayed at full fledged hotels in both Portsmouth, NH and Kennebunkport, ME, but this was hands down the cleanest and quietest one of the three. We were lucky to have stayed here for 2 nights, and would return in a heartbeat. The owners, Lynn and Mark are delightful and are palpably committed to their motel as well as their guests' happiness. We didn't hear any noise nor conversations to rouse us from sleep, and the expansive 100 acre property behind the motel was and added plus with its numerous hiking trails. We can't wait to return next Summer!!

This place is a reminder of when we were kids travelling with our parents to the old school drive up motel. Lynn and Mark have preserved the integrity of a bygone era, while offering clean, comfortable and updated accommodations. The binder of menus and restaurant choices was helpful and led us to the New Gloucester Village Store for breakfast.
We enjoyed our stay immensely and will be back again.

Dear Shelly, It's very rewarding for us to have our guests appreciate our approach to operating Sleepy Time. "Mom & Pop" work hard to provide a pleasurable experience for each and every guest. We're happy that you found a local eatery in our in-room restaurant guide that was to your liking and hope to see you again on your next shopping trip in the Maine.
Thank you,
Mark & Lynn Klinger

Lynn and Mark were very accommodating. We had a large group and they worked with me to get the arrangements right. The rooms were great with a refrigerator, microwave, tables & chairs... And besides that it was honestly the cleanest place I have ever stayed. We travel frequently and quite often stay at the Crowne Plaza or Double Tree Inn and these rooms were definitely cleaner.
There will be no hesitation as to staying there in the future. This is a GO TO place of business.
Keep up the good work!

Dear Rebecca, We are so grateful and appreciate your very kind comments and it's also very exciting for us to receive our 100th review. It was wonderful to have your group stay with us. You were all very respectful of our motel, we especially enjoyed everyone relaxing on our front lawn area in the evening. We look forward to having you all stay with us again during your next family reunion.
Thank you,
Mark & Lynn Klinger
