We saw the Eddies sign while driving on the highway. Needed to have lunch, and didn't want a chain fast food place. We almost decided to turn away when we saw Eddies was connected to a Texaco station. (They share a building and restrooms.) We persisted and got a big reward for doing so--authentic barbecue (ribs, brisket, chicken, turkey, sausage all available) and flavorful spicy sauce, cafeteria style side dishes that were delicious. Broccoli done just right--not mushy! Good beans and potato casserole too. They cater and do take out. Friendly, helpful staff-- cheerful in answering questions. Highly recommended.

Great tasting BBQ, good smoky and spicy flavor. The rolls were memorable. We would eat there again if in the area again.

Of course the atmosphere is smoky; that's what they do! The only problem is your clothes will smell of BBQ for the rest of the day, which might be good if you're hungry, but doesn't lend itself to an afternoon in the office.

They serve cafeteria style inside and there's a drive through. The food is good, solid BBQ with trimmings, and the prices reasonable.

All road trips lead me to BBQ joints, one of my favorite types of food. Do not let this place fool you. It is in half of a convenience store/gas station surrounded by hotel chains and fast food joints immediately off Hwy 49. A confusing set-up greets you, a semi buffet system ending up at the register. There are a couple of wooden picnic tables and some afte-thought tables and chairs with self serve drink area. Go to the meat window and place order, the big sellers the oneor two meat plates, and then just join the throng, if at meal time. The type of place you find either by accident o because you live there. Now let's talk meat. Lonnie will grab a chunk((or slab!) of whatever you order, (ribs, chcken, brisket, turkey, sausage), and go to slicing. This kid has blade skills that rival Iron Chefs! The only way to describe the portion is huge, 2 people can easily eat the meat on any plate. I ordered the turkey, a meat many seem to have problems with, but not here. It was tender, smoky, drippingly juicy, delectable, there are not enough words to describe delicious. Easily the best turkey I have ever eaten. I wound up going here for 6 meals, 4 lunches this last trip if that says anything, and the results were al the same as in this review. I also ordered a turkey po'boy, served on a huge, soft po'boy loaf, weighing in at least a pound. When opened, this sandwich fills and overhangs the top of a three compartment meal tray. All meats come with a choice of regular, sweet and spicy sauces, opt for the spicy which is most place's mild to med,and also on the side. This is the best Q in this area, and I would say the best turkey anywhere. Unfortunately the sides do not measure up to protein, or this place woud be SRO! Frozen, fried okra, non-descript green beans, a strange stuffed potato casserole, and a blue box tasting shells and cheese. The baked beans are a preference issue, as they are loaded with large chunksof meat, something I do not like, but others around me were scarfing down. The beans had a delicious sauce, thick and sweet, smoky flavor that says all day cooking! The slaw was something that was not recommended, sitting in a bowl on ice, a temp issue I question. The dessert was a tired pudding and Sara Lee idividual pecan pies. But you go here for the 'que, and it is worth the drive from anywhere! The meat review over-rides any negatives for the final rating!
