Sheets weren't changed on bed, as evidenced by hairs between sheets. AC didn't work in some rooms, staff was very curt and not helpful. Information re: shuttles was not reliable. Very poor place to stay; I would not recommend it unless you're desperate.

Damp, smelly, dirty, noisy rooms with leaking showers and hairs in the bed. If that sounds like your cup of tea, you'll be right at home here, if not, avoid this hotel and stay somewhere else!

The airport pickup was convenient although we had to wait about 30 minutes for another party to arrive and ride in a van without air condiitoning. The room did indeed have AC, a TV, and hot water but it was dark, dank, worn, and noisy. Also, there was a leak in the bathroom so there was a puddle of water in the bathroom and part of the room. The area in which this hotel is located is very sketchy at night. There is virtually no place to have dinner if you set out by foot. However, for a few dollars you can take a taxi to the Casco Viejo district which is very nice and has a ton of dining options. The breakfast was pitiful - two COLD rolls, coffee and juice. The service is terrible - breakfast is served to you whenever they get around to it. The front desk people don't know one word of English and will not call a taxi for you. Yes, it's cheap - but you get what you pay for.

The rooms had air con and cable TV, and free (very small) breakfast.

The rooms smelt a bit like mould from the humidity.

The staff were friendly.

This hotel is a great deal ($35) again if you need a place to sleep and use the internet. They provided free transportation from the Allbrook Airport which was nice and easy. Because the price was so decent, we even just came in early morning and stored our stuff in the room while we ran a bunch of errands in the city, then were able to come back, grab our stuff and catch our next flight that same day/evening. They have a safety box which was also key.
Rooms have good TV, internet kinda faulty but worked for the most part, solid bed and clean bathroom. They provide breakfast - which is only a juice and bread but OK if you need something very light so you are not starving. However we were still hungry so we got yummy scrambled eggs and tortilla for $2.50. Worth it.
They seem well-organized and lots of families and couples where there so it felt safe and comfortable.

It's not located in the happening part of town however cab rides are only a few dollars, so by paying a cheaper price for the room, you have a few extra bucks to drive to where the action is.

I stayed here last year in February and June, and came with a friend who had never been here. From experience and from reading the reviews, the Marparaiso has improved a lot recently. The staff were very friendly and helpful (they speak english but we spoke to them in spanish, maybe this improved our service?), the airport pickup was on time and very convenient, the restaurant has been renovated, the rooms are clean, ours had a fridge, AC, and hot water. The wifi has also been great to have, although only helpful if traveling with a laptop. The location was also great, we walked almost everywhere that we went in the city (Casco Viejo, Avenida Central, Bella Vista) and although not very a very touristy area, there are lots of shops that are great for running errands. Yes, breakfast is only bread (rolls with butter and jam), but you also get coffee (or tea or hot chocolate) and fresh-squeezed orange juice, and it is free. Our room was also very quiet (we couldn't hear other people in the hotel, although there is traffic in the morning because it is on a busy street). We will definitely stay here again.
