Absolutely amazing - stop and get an amazing meal and beer for absolutely next to nothing!

Amazing ambience and food was the best I tasted in Panama!

Only one word - "Go!"

The Fish Market is the perfect complement to the bevy of new tony restaurants in the Casco Viejo. Housed in the ruins of an old building, one passes through the front door into an open air eatery with assorted picnic tables around the open space. It has a charm all of its own, and you almost feel transported back to another time. To be sure it is a very casual hang, and it is relatively inexpensive. We met one of the owners, Maurice. Very nice, friendly guy, and a great host.

The thing that distinguishes The Fish Market is that, along with its unassuming setting, the simple menu includes food that is utterly fresh, simple, tasty, and authentic. The Thai style ceviche was perfect, and the fish tacos were heaven. Enjoy with a cold Panama lager, and it's a satisfying, delicious meal. You simply can't go wrong.

Certainly, if you will be staying at one of the hotels in the casco Viejo for a few days and have a chance to try out a few different options, keep The Fish Market on your gastronomic itinerary.

The meal was great, abundant and timely. Waitress was very helpful, friendly and courteous, one of the nicest I've had in the whole city. The market itself was fascinating, but will agree with a couple of reviewers, smelly, watch out if wearing sandals or have to use the bathroom.

Okay folks..some one needs to go and clean out all these reviews. These reviews are supposed to be about the pop-up restaurant, "The Fish Market"..not a fish market...

The Fish Market is the real name (its in English) of a food truck inside an abandoned building in Casco Viejo. https://www.facebook.com/Fish.Market.Panama

El Mercado de Mariscos (the seafood market) is the fish market next to the public pier on the edge of Casco Viejo. http://cascoviejo.com/mercado-de-mariscos/

The two are a few blocks away from each other.

At the Fish Market you can get a great fish taco or whatever else they are serving that day and then east in a picnic style environment within the confines of a abandoned building. On a good night you can watch the stars through the open roof. The patio lanterns, chars and beers make it seem like it should be on a beach.

Food was great! It is truly one of the best meals I had while in Panama. Enjoy!

The walk through the actual market is interesting and you can see all sorts of huge catches that were hauled in (Tuna, Mahi, etc.). Its a bit fishy smelling and watch out if you're wearing sandals because there are puddles of fishy water and such along the floor.
But head out front to the ceviche stalls and get yourself a delicious cup full! There are tables to sit at and enjoy. If you're not sure which ceviche vendor to pick, I recommend choosing the one with the most locals patronizing it. They know. These vendors also have sodas, beers, and other non-ceiche seafood dishes for sale.
