There is no hotel in the old city like this one. It is clean, quiet, professionally run. We wanted to stay in Casco Viejo, and since this is a relatively new hotel, we did not hear about it initially and were going to stay at the Tantalo, but worried about all the reviews that said to bring your earplugs, so we switched to the America Trade Hotel. What a lucky change.
We were greeted by Philip, the general manager, and a native Panamanian guy who remembered our names each time we entered the hotel. The rooms were spectacular, built with wood harvested from the bottom of the nearby lake created when the canal was built... !!
The place is immaculate, the bathrooms clean and the shower a joy to be in. I have not had that much water pressure from a rain shower head in years. The food and the jazz club were American standards and the pool was more like a large plunge pool, but it made no difference since the view and breeze were more than one could ask for.
I wished there was a spa, but there were many other things to enjoy in the old city. There is no reason to even consider staying anywhere else in Casco ViejoMore
