Visiting this cafeteria-bakery-gourmet store is quiet an experience. You can never imagine this kind of offer in Panamá. But there it is, in a corner of a little shopping center near the Parque Omar!
The feeling is like you are in the middle of any mediterranean city, full of olives, oil, honey, breads, sweets, coffees and teas... just the right place to have a sandwich with a friend or maybe late breakfast on a Saturday morning with your hubby!

This place is a gem in Panama City. There is so much to choose from, greek sweets, chocolates, sladas, soups and sandwiches. They also make excellent coffee and tea.
Don't miss it!

The name may sound Greek, but this lovely bakery could just as well have been in the neighborhoods Vila Madelena or Pinheiros in Sao Paulo. Finding a gem like this is so important to help you feel at home in a new Country. The espresso is splendid and the sandwiches are matching the taste. We'll have to come back for the ice cream.

Whilst some descriptors call this place a Greek restaurant I would call it more of a general bakery and deli. And not that that's a bad thing! They have excellent sandwiches and a bevy of great desserts and ice cream. I call out the greek for anyone going in thinking they will find gyros on the menu. They do have Greek desserts and salads (fresh but pre-packed). Both of which are very good. This place really has become our go-to restaurant whenever we get into Panama City. Also a nice place to go with kids after visiting the Park Omar.

Athanasiou is a candy shoppe for adults and SO delicious. Everything it worth trying in the dessert section and looks it. The cafe and bakery is very open, which keeps it interesting and produces a welcoming atmosphere. Olive Oil here is to die for. Such gooey and tasty desserts!
Loss of a star for some snooty staff who were bothered by me asking for help to purchase the delicacies. (sigh) Pretty standard around these parts though for customer service.
