We ate at Riesen twice in the week we spent in Panama City. The food was a modern interpretation using many locally sourced ingredients. On the first visit, I started with the yucca churros with shredded beef paired with the house Merlot, followed by the corvina. The corvina presentation was a feast to the eyes and paired nicely with the house Sauvignon Blanc. For dessert I had the pot de creme. The food was great that the restaurant deserved a second visit. We arrived around 8pm on both occasions which is early and received good and attentive service. The service level goes spotty as the small restaurant fills up.

I started with the squash soup, fantastic. The cornbread fritters were so flavorful.

I chose the chicken medallions and was glad I did. The flavor and extras on the plate were wonderfully surprising.

They make their own ice cream and it's great.

All the food is fresh and prepared to order.

The chef is 21 years old and talented beyond his age. I met his mother and grandmother too.

This is a fantastic dinning experience. The menu changes monthly.

Happened to be looking for another restaurant (which we never found), and found Riesen! The staff was wonderful, the food was absolutely delicious and the decor was "zen"! Would go back any day!

I have been to Riesen every time I have been to Panama, and it really is a wonderful place for people who don't mind spending a bit of money on an enjoyable evening with fantastic and interesting food. The menu changes regularly and usually has some interesting and unusual dishes, all of which are delicious - I haven't had a bad, or even average dish yet. The young chef has come for a brief chat a couple of times and he is a lovely chap who is genuinely interested in food, and your honest opinions on his food. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. If it's a for a special night out, celebration or whatever, this is the place to go. I always sit outside so can't really comment on the atmosphere inside.

This restaurant is a real treasure! The chef is young Hernan Riesen trained in Canada. The menu is small and changes every month based on the availability of ingredients. Fresh, fresh ingredients tastefully put together. He uses an immersion cooker which keeps all the juices and never over cooks the food. The staff is friendly and responds well to questions about the menu. Pleasant chic atmosphere with soft music----no TV blasting. It is easy to have a conversation.
We had salad, ribs, ravioli and ice cream for dessert. All very good. No heavy hand with the salt.
I would have given a five star except for typo on wine menu and glitch with wine service. The wine service was corrected and the typo will be corrected soon. You will most definitely enjoy eating here!
