“Not the best sleep-quality”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

I stayed three nights at the Panamericana Hostel, and I must say I loved the location in Casco Viejo.
The hostel was clean and breakfast was included. The breakfast consisted of bananas (if you were up early), white bread and peanutbutter and jam, plus coffe.

I didn't really sleep very good though, because of the drunk guests that came in late at night and the noise they made, but of course this isn't really the hostels fault, but the guests that don't have respects for others.

To sum up I would say this is a ok place if you need to spend some nights in Panama City.

This is actually a quite great hostel. It's cheap, clean, with friendly staff and a nice location in Casco Viejo, close to several restaurants and bars, and to the fish marked. However, I could never stay here again, as I did not get any good sleep for the three nights I was here. There was sort of an open window above our door facing the hallway, which could not be closed, and we could hear literally EVERYTHING that went on in the hostel. It does not have a "quiet time" that most hostels I've been to do, and people were free to sit in the hallway and talk and play guitar all night, which they did on occasions. I do realize that a hostel won't offer the same privacy and comfort as a hotel, but I have been to a good amount of hostels on my travels, and this is the only one that was so noisy that it would not return. Which is really a shame, cause otherwise it was a great place!

The Panamerican hostel has high ceilings in every room, which was a relieve after having spent some nights in a crampy room. A bit strange are the open parts above every door and the drapes are fairly bright. They should come up with a better way of opening the balcony doors of the rooms. All in all a fair deal. Bring your earplugs and you will be fine. Some more chairs on the very nice rooftop terrace would be great.

Yes, people complain about the noise, but it is a hostal, what did you expect? The rooms are good, we got one with a big balcony in front of the Plaza Herrera. The location is excellent! We stayed there for over a week and could walk to the Balboa strip after roaming around the beautiful Casco Viejo area. You are also near the seafood market and many great restaurant you can not miss! The staff is really helpful and the roof terrace is a good place to see the city. Good value for your money, I would definitely stay there again! Thanks for a nice experience!!!

Perfect location in Casco Viejo. Large and clean dorms with great lockers. Good hang out wether on the rooftop or inside. There is even warm water to shower. The kitchen is spacious and perfect to make your own breakfast or dinner.
Don't forget to go to the fish market for lunch. You can walk along the shore from the hostel and you'll find it.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights and it was overall pretty good. The location was perfect, right in center of old town.

We had a private room with private bathroom which had lockers and felt very safe.

The downside was the location of the room as it shared a wall with the floors shared bathroom which made it very noisy (think hearing people pee and slamming doors)

Staff was friendly, wifi was good (different networks for different parts of hostel) and it offered breakfast though it ended a bit early so we never made it on time.

A big plus is that they allowed us to crash in the common room upon arrival at 3 am from Costa Rica.

The double room was very simple but acceptable - literally just two beds and old school-like lockers. The socket was very loose and difficult to use. The bathroom in the corridor was okay and quite clean.
We received PBJ sandwiches, coffee and fruit for breakfast free of charge.
The hostel provides a computer with internet access which is great but unfortunately the wi-fi didn't work on the top floor.
Overall, it was pretty good value for money although nothing shockingly great.
