My husband and I visit this restaurant when we have a yen for the foods of my home country, Germany. The food is definitely authentic - flavorful and delicious, with all the traditional favourites on the menu, plus some international dishes like Cordon Bleu as well as specials. The portions are a nice size, the service is good, the wines and beers taste like home. Ask for a gespritztes Bier if you want to experience the German version of a shanty: beer and cola, or for a Apfelsaftschorle for a refreshing mix of apple juice and sodawater.
Do take the time to look around and appreciate the cozy and traditional German "pub style" decor, much of it from the area around Cologne. This should certainly keep you busy while you wait for your food to arrive.
They offer a separate room for functions, and gift certificates. You have to use the door at the back of the building to get in. Plenty of parking back there, too.
They are closed Sunday and Monday, but they ARE open on Sunday Dec. 2nd for this year's traditional German Christmas Market; proceeds as usual go to The Catherine Brown Home for the Aged in Panama City.
