“Amazing evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013 via mobile

La Trona is a beautiful looking place for dinner, especially for 2. Ate there Sat night. The cosmos were well made, in appetizers must try the tartar de salmon and the causa de atun, YUMMY! Dinner -the corvina in causa( Peruvian sauce) and the lamb.
Service was very attentive ,all in all an A+.

“Best creme brûlée of our lives!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

The Waldorf Astoria recommended La Trona to us and I am so glad they did! The restaurant has really fun unique decor. We sat outside on the terrace. The middle tables get the best access to fans, but there was a nice breeze the whole night so any table would be fine. We chose the sushi tower to start. It was delicious and a good size. I had the short rib for dinner. All I can say is that it was perfect! It was so flavorful and so tender. You could cut it with a spoon! My husband had the skirt steak and he said it was one of the best of his life. Everything was wonderful but the dessert really stole the show! I had the selection of sorbets. They were absolutely delicious. Strawberry, watermelon and orange perfection. My husband chose the creme brûlée and it was one of the very best things I have ever eaten. I don't even really know how to describe it besides smooth, creamy, heaven. Obviously I highly recommend this restaurant! Especially if you are staying at the Waldorf, it is very close! Service was perfect, attentive but unobtrusive. We enjoyed every minute!

“RUDE HORRID SERVICE DO NOT GO HERE”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013 via mobile

We arrived to an empty restaurant & were promptly told no seating was available but they would allow us to sit outside. We were overlooking a cyclone fence with razor wire, smelly wet plastic potted plants & a parking lot...we told them, either we sat inside or we would leave. A rude waiter begrudgingly sat us in a dark corner with a disgusting look. Ok, we can deal but were getting very perturbed. We ordered sangria but were told that the only way we would get sangria was to order a very expensive bottle of wine. That was it. We got up and left letting them know that we would be posting this review. The restaurant is dark, old fashioned, stuffy. We went because of some of the reviews we read here. Bad idea. We walked next door to Jaleo. Super atmosphere, great food, lovely service,

If you want beautiful, bright, fresh spaces where you are treated graciously go to Luna, Segunda Muelle or a rare treat where locals attend - Habbito-best paella ever with a scrumptious gin & tonic made with tropical fruit!!

“Fine Dining in Panama”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

We struggled to find La Trona as it is situated on the second floor of a building and several blocks away from Uruguay Sreet. I am glad that we made the effort. This restaurant deserves notice for simply trying to put forth an interestng menu. Most dishes fused European/Mediterranean food with Asian touches. Wait staff was friendly and welcoming. The results, while not perfectly executed, provided a nice alternative to the burgers and chops available elsewhere.

“Fine dining oasis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

La Trona has a casual elegance about it that sets expectations for fine food and service that did not disappoint. The staff is terrific- attentive without intruding and were quite helpful for our non Spanish speaking trio. All the food was very good with the most memorable being the made in house stuffed ravioli. Both the shrimp and the lamb versions were wonderful! We ate at La Trona on our last night in Panama City and it was a fitting place for a finale of great meals.
