As others have said, it remains a work in progress, but it is still the best thing to do in Panama City. The architecture is world class, even though it can seem like every other building is abandoned. That just adds the the neighborhood's "edge" and authenticity. I imagine a few years from now it will be a lot more finished, but I hope it never turns into a Disney World version of Panama. For now, it has great sightseeing and people watching, and plenty of good shops and restaurants. My kind of place.

Old Panama is very nice, really rustic, great places to eat, small markets, good cafe's, a must see if you go to panama.

the tour guide was so helpful when i asked where is the 1st place he think i should see. He said that the Old City is the place to be and he was absolutely correct. I had the priviledge of viewing such beautiful architecture of old buildings around the the old city, which had majority of the tourist. I saw old churches that was dated i believe all the way back to the 18th century, i even saw a church that was still in use,Unfortunately the museum was closed and i was really disappointed but it was the weekend. The view from the Old City was incredible because we saw the ocean and you can see Panama City, what a sight it was.there was an area that he passed and i was not allowed o take pictures because he said that the people in that area was very dangerous so i was a bit scared to even look through the window. The streets there was very narrow and there was alot of locals selling souvenirs most of which was handcrafted. i am glad i got to see the Old City and would have loved to spend more time there, maybe next time around

No visit to Panama City is complete without a visit to Casco Viejo. There are new and old buildings right next to each other. Lots of cool buildings and structures to see. A photographers dream!! Lots of police so area fairly safe. Would not stay there again, tho, due to the noisy partying that goes on all night!!!

This area has great views of the skyline and the water. There are places to eat outside so you can enjoy the scenery. There are a few shops for tourists to pick up panama hats and other touristy gifts.
