Lovely big family room overlooking the waterfront and city skyline. Simple and clean. Nice pool and handy location to walk along the seafront to the fish market and old town, taxi back if your feet get tired. Staff were a bit miserable and the food wasn't great. So eat elsewhere if you can. Lots of choices in the city, many on the causeway.

Stayed: August 2014

I had an amazing room and view for the price I paid!! The mini bar prices were all reasonable. The AC works very well. Breakfast buffet is a great bonus and includes lots of hot and cold food.

Avoid the taxis they offer you as they're overpriced... although you can negotiate.

We stayed at this hotel for a short weekend and enjoyed every minute. The staff were welcoming and gracious in particular Ms. Landau, who helped arrange our accommodations. From our room you could see the entire coastline of Panama City from Casco Viejo up to the changing lights of the Hard Rock. You could pay more and stay at the Trump Tower or Hard Rock but the view is the same and though they are new and modern there is something to be said about the size of each room. Although this is not a brand new modern hotel dollar for value it is well worth it.

Room Tip: higher floors have better views. Ask for room with bay view not city.

Let me say that I'm a little harsh by only giving it 3 stars, however Trump Tower, Hard Rock are close by so it would be hard to give this a rating higher than those just because they are so modern and much more expensive.
The Paitilla Is in a great location. You have a great view of the bay and Balboa. The park with bike/roller blade/walking trails are a short walk down the corner. You can walk all of the way to Casco Viejo. Many vendors along the way. Totally safe and a great walk. Down by the fish process plant are restaurants, but the smell really tuned my off. However many folks eat there. If you go that far continue on the route under the highway to Caso Viejo and eat at the new trendy restaurants there. There is also a bike rental shop in the area before the highway. Many of the old 1600ish building are being reclaimed and the area has been designated a UNESCO site.
Back to the Paitila. The breakfast buffet is great! Egg and omelette station, many fruits and juices. Beef and ham and different items every morning. Very clean and very high quality. Good pool and fitness center. Close to Punta Pacifica, Banking area. Stay away from Hard Rock unless you just want to site see. Drinks and food very expensive and the taxi service is a rip off! Walk through the Multi Centro and get a cab for 1/3 of the cost. Eat at Roberto Duran's little restaurant, Pomadores Italian by the Las Vegas Hotel Both places are great and Roberto is at his place most of the time. Great man and a very nice guy!

Room Tip: If you need kosher food or want some very good fruit to snack on in your room, walk down to the end of Italia. There is a strip mall there with a small fruit and veggie market an a kosher restaurant.

The rooms are clean and recently remodeled, spacious rooms. If outside is painted, it will look new. The dinner options at the restaurant are limited. On second night, we went to the Mall which is walk-able. Nice view of the city from rooms. People are friendly and service is good.
