We spent a night at the hotel which serves a great buffet breakfast and is located across from Multi Centro Mall. The mall is a hop on hop off stop for the double decker tour bus so is very convenient. It is also at the end of the waterfront walkway which appears to go for miles right to the Casco Viejo and possibly further to the causeway. Hotel was clean, comfortable beds and small pool. Only drawback was the raw sewage smell that occasionally drifted towards the hotel and the waterfront walkway.

Room Tip: Ask to be above 10th floor to reduce traffic noise and ocean view.

The good: the hotel location, the quality of furniture, and its amazing view of the bay from the swimming pool and SOME room.

The bad: I have spent there just a night, and I had booked this hotel for its view but, unfortunately, not all the rooms had a nice view, and this was my case. I imagine that they could have lost my reservation, because despite of having made the reservation with enough time, they took 15 minutes to find it when I call a day after my arrival, and gave me a double room with only a bed when I had advised that we were a couple with a kid.

Room Tip: If you want a nice view, ensure it with the hotel while booking.

Good residential area location. About 300 yards from a major shopping center. Lots of restaurants and places to eat and shop nearby. Easy to get a cheap taxi by walking to the shopping center and getting one there. Getting a taxi there will be about 25% the cost of using one of the units from the hotel.

We stayed in Plaza Paitilla for a week. The view of the hotel to the Cinta Costera is amazing... no other hotel might have the same amazing view. Everything is close by to the hotel. You are a block away from the mall, the Hard Rock Cafe, Papa Johns, the Cinta Costera, buses, taxi cabs, everything. We were "fortunate" to stay on one of the upper floors (15th floor), the pictures, trust me, come out amazingly. The rooms are quite spacious, with closets, a desk, as you see it in the pictures. The staff at the reception are very helpful, they will guide you with whatever you need. The hotel is very well equipped with a call center, a bar, a restaurant, a souvenir store (in case you forget to get something for mom). Breakfast is buffet-style ans is served everyday from 7:30-10:30, just be sure not to get there around 10, because things are not that warm anymore.
Now, if we had kids, we wouldn't take them to that hotel, the walls are all glass. We thought it'd be a bit dangerous. The hotel is not so new, so beware of the smell of the carpets, since it seems they haven't changed them in ages. The fridge in our room did not work, we had some beverages and they were not cold at all. The snacks they had in the room? overly priced and they did not give complementary water in the rooms. Although the room is quite spacious, the bathroom is really small and the showers, depending on the room will not work so good. Anyhow, one night, I was looking up at the ceiling and I could see some mold in some of the corners of the ceiling, beware of that. I don't think the cleaning person is very detail orientated either, a couple of our friends were staying in another room where they found a dead roach on the floor, they thought that it would be cleaned by the next day, and it actually stayed with them for the rest of the week.
So once you go and get your breakfast, be patient, we had to go after the staff to get us utensils, plates, cups, etc. Get there early, so you can get your food warm, it varies and it has quite a variety of things you might like and there is a lady making omelettes. The bad thing is, she sometimes goes off wandering and has a terrible attitude. So no tips for you lady! Finally, Although the hotel is close to everything, specially the Cinta Costera, the stench that comes from the water goes all the way up to the 5th floor, smells like a really bad and dark alley in some not so safe city.

By the way, be sure to close your curtains... all windows are clear and people will see you.

I had stayed in a couple other trip advisor rated hotels in Panama, including the Toscana, the top rated one. My friend suggested this one on this trip, and for value and location, it can not be beat. It is a minute cab ride from a lot of great restaurants in the area, especiially calle Uraguay and the very top rated Cafe Chic, which was delightful. Fifteen minute walking, and you will have access to the best of the City.
We got our room for about $120/night on hotels.com, so as a disclaimer, if you pay list price, my rating would drop, if I were to pay twice as much.
The added breakfast included is a delightful surprise as to the large selection and fairly healthy foods by Panama standards.

Room Tip: Ask for a view. Axiomatically, higher rooms have a better view.

Stayed there a few times now. Our first visit we were presented with a bottle of wine and fruit and cheese plate that was a nice surprise. Rooms have a good AC, the water is nice and hot in the shower, and there is a small fridge with items for purchase but we used it to keep our drinks cool. We alway have received a room overlooking the bay so the views are nice. The pool is small but clean and is nice to cool off and sunbath by. There is construction on a park so there should be a nicer view in the future. TV had many english stations and a good internet signal as well. Telephones were also in the room. The windows collect condensation so be careful as the carpet seemed to get a bit wet by them. Didn't use the workout room, looked basic but there was some equipment.

Room Tip: The higher rooms have a better view and are a bit quieter.
