We stumbled up this church by accident while roaming the old city. Inside it is quite magnificent, something to see to believe. It doesn't take long to visit but it's well worth it.

Visited on a Sunday. It was beautiful to view as I well as side altars carved of wood depict ing various saints. If in the neighborhood stop in

If you are in Casa viejo you must see this church and hear of its history. It is pretty fasinating. In case you do not have a guided tour perhaps do some research about the church first before you go as it is its past that is interesting.

The gorgeous gold-plated altar is the one a priest painted black to keep the pirate Henry Morgan from stealing. And you are allowed to photograph it if a service is not in session.

We had been looking forward to seeing the gold altar but the church was not open. Our driver told us it has been closed a lot lately. We did come back at the end of the day but were disappointed to have not been able to see it.
