“It's fine for a hour or so”

It's worth a quick drive out to see the city from the causeway but I don't recommend eating out here. All the restaurants seem touristy and over priced. It was REALLY hot in the afternoon when we went and so we canceled the bike rental riding we planned to do. It would be nice if there was more shade along the causeway, it did seem like a good place to bike with kids if the weather was suitable. There was also a good place to buy local crafts in a large building that seemed better priced then buying more direct then the stores in the city.

“Not worth going”
Reviewed January 15, 2014 via mobile

I really don't understand why the causeway received a 4.5 rating at tripadvisor.
The three ugly islands consist of a lot of parking spots and some restaurants. Thats it (or I missed an important part).
I expected a beautiful quiet island with lots of trees but all I saw was concrete buildings (including a touristic duty free shop which didn't make any sense at all).
It seems to be popular among people from Panama.
Food was ok.

“Shorebirds!”

A good place to see pelicans, gulls and frigate birds. We stopped at the Smithsonian Center and enjoyed watching families there, as well as quite a few iguana.

“Lovely”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

I had done some research before my trip to Panama City and it was advised that the Causeway was a place worth seeing. I must say it truly was. The trip was incredible with beautiful scenery. I had the opportunity to eat at the restaurants there. Their food was so delicious, very tasty. All the restaurants were full, i heard it was very popular place for the locals to visit the causeway on weekends and i can understand why. It;s a wonderful place for the family to visit because there are lots of activities on these islands apart form the restaurants there are mobile bikes and boats available for rental.

“Add to your "To Do" list”
Reviewed January 11, 2014 via mobile

The Causeway is a great way to stretch your legs and view the surrounds. Loads of pelicans in the area and some of the rare Magnificent Frigate birds which are a common sight in Panama City. There are cute bicycles that can be pedalled by 4 people which looked like fun but not used by me. Ideal way of traversing the Causeway. Great restaurants at the end.
Allow a minimum of an hour for a quick look but maybe a bit longer to appreciate the views from that area.
