The Soberania National Park had an abundance of jungle and fauna however very little wild life. We were told that because of over population, deforestation and hunting that the wildlife was dying off.

“Tough to see wildlife”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

We walked for a couple hours early one morning along Pipline Road. I expected, from the reviews, to have a world-class bird viewing experience. We saw a sloth, anteater, butterflies and a couple toucans, but not much more. We are fairly experienced birders, but maybe we needed a guide anyway, or we just got there at a bad time. Not sure, but it was not as cool as I expected from the other reviews.

A must do visit while in Panama city. Saw a sloth 10 minutes walking in the park. not many people go to this park, its super quite, you feel like you are alone in the world visiting. Gorgeous thick rainforest 30 minutes from the city center. We payed a taxi cab for the day and were able to visit at our leisure.

“Awesome birding!”

We went to the Rainforest Discovery Center and climbed up the tower for some amazing views over the rainforest! Our small rental car only made it a few kms down Pipeline Road, I recommend a SUV.

“Birds galore!”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

You don't need to spend big bucks for the Canopy Tower or the aerial tramway, just go to Summit Park road and ponds, Pipeline Road (there is a trail into the forest at the deadend roadblock), the parking lot for the aerial tramway EARLY mornings, the entrance to the Canopy Tower, practically anywhere. However, a guide is a huge help for most of us.
