Picked from tripadvisor! Good choice, far from maddening crowd. But just a $5 cab ride to causeway, fares on front desk. We tipped extra for ac n if they smiled. Not too common here smiling, @ English speaking, could be the history behind the canal. Front desk folks awesome, maids beyond nice, view w/ canal beyond words. No worries freighters are like mice, just glide across canal w/ lights. No fireworks New Years here, heard them, but no vision. TGIF folks speak zip English, n will not try Spanglish! Just stare @ ya. Many Eurpeons, Aussies, Canadians n USA here so hard to understand why not SOME, even we know basic Spanish. Kids very noisy @ night I'n play area so stay away from room over play area! Alberto's best restaurant on causeway, ate there 4 times! Allbrook best shopping! Huge! Everthing u would need, designer shops, casino, banks, even grocery store! We bought a lot of water n wine there. Cabs abound, no worries, everyone knows Country Inn, Amador! Be sure to ask for Carlos @ hotel, he drives, n will take u everywhere just ask for him @ front desk. For short runs cabs on side, just ask first how much, I'n Spanish. Fourteen days too long here, however. Too hot for us. Tomorrow Ecuador!! But we would absolutely recommend this place. Oh, happy hr @ Balboa next door, just a little tiny walk on waterside, safe day or night. U can walk 2miles to causeway, we did! We r old! Hot, take water, n wear a hat! Or rent a bike. Have fun n wear ur sun screen! Viva la Panama!
p.s. canal 1/2 day trip we thought was a rip off!

I had occasion to stay at this hotel when my sister came to visit me in Panama City. She needed a hotel to stay at close to where I had my boat anchored and this fit the bill. I was VERY happy she offered to have me stay with her the last night. I used to spend 75% of my nights in hotels while I was a sales manager, and as such consider myself pretty experienced when it comes to the various degrees of quality. I can only attest to what I was treated to when at this property. We had a room in the newer part of the hotel, so perhaps due to others' reviews, it might be best to ask for a room here. The bathroom was great, lots of water and the right temperatures and pressure available. It looked like it had either been newly redone or was new altogether. The bedding was awesome....'nuf said. The air conditioner is new, so you need to be fairly switched on as to how they work, as it WAS a bit tricky to get the settings to change. If you can't, just ask the staff, that's what they are there for. The included breakfast.....suffice it to say that no one should complain about it. It was great, regardless of whether you are vegetarian or not. TGIF is attached. Don't bother. I've now eaten there 3 times and have not been impressed. Perhaps go down the causeway 50 steps to the Balboa Yacht Club and eat there, or walk down the causeway to all the restaurants on Flamenco Island. The location is specific - not sure why anyone would stay there if they want to explore the city, as PC is big and there are lots of hotels nearer to where the old part of town is (Casco Viejo and Panama Viejo). If you are a keen walker, you can't get a better place than the causeway to go for a morning stroll or evening walk to watch the sunset, and watching the ships enter the canal is of course, a wonder to behold. Great internet...Didn't try the pool but it looked clean and was large. The room had a coffee maker, there were coffee stations around the lobby, and complimentary cookies on the checkin counter. They are VERY security conscious - the room keycard didn't even have a hotel logo or insignia on it, impressive. I'd rate it 5 stars.

Room Tip: New part of the hotel seems to be best.

The three good things first - the included breakfast buffet was good, the view of the ships was very good and the closeness to the causeway - we liked to go there for dinner and then walk back which was a decent walk. The bad things- it was extremely noisy our first night there- we had to move rooms and the hotel was not that apologetic about it. The newer building is in much better condition and quieter so try to stay there. But we still had some problems with the shower and I heard someone else complaining about the safe not working. Besides the causeway, it is in the middle of no where and cabs are VERY expensive from this location. I would probably recommend one night at this place at most. My kids liked the pool but they like most pools. Some of the causeway restaurants were very good and we rented bikes there too. TGIF is attached- which is okay for one meal but that is about it. I would have been preferred a more central location in panama city.

I chose this hotel because it had a pool and overlooked the canal. I am really happy with my choice. The room is very spacious, a huge bed, a good welcome and staff who are willing to help.
The breakfast was great and the only downside is the lack of a restaurant on site. As a veggie I do not frequent places like TGI Friday! It is a long way from anywhere else so knowing this I bought some food before I checked in.
It's a great place to stay before leaving for the airport - it has given me one last day in the sun, very quiet and pleasant.

Room Tip: ask for ocean view - it's worth the extra price and gives you a private balcony to take up the l...

I didn't sleep for 4 nights due to the air conditioning.
There was no off switch. The only way to make the system stop was to raise the temperature. So it meant no aircon which in Panama is not a good thing.
When the air on did run it ran at full fan which rattled and roared. On speaking to reception their solution was to turn the temperature up to stop the unit running and that they are all like that.

The rooms are large and they are clean. If you don't request the minibar replenished then it won't be.

The shower is awful, hot .....then cold....then normal...then hot ..then cold etc etc. around 15 seconds on each cycle.

Room service comes round starting quite early so if you want to sleep in don't forget the do not disturb sign.

We had a room overlooking the canal so we did expect air con and a shower in the ore expensive rooms.

A new wing is opening soon ,one would expect that this will have proper aircon and shower.

The rooms are spacious and clean and the service is also good. The buffet breakfast is included and it is fine. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant for lunch and dinner, there is a”Fridays” restaurant that serves as the hotel restaurant, the bills can be signed and charged to the room bill, this is convenient but the menu is limited and for a long stay may not be good enough.
