The hotel is fine, the pool area is fine, the staff are friendly and fairly helpful.

The TGI Fridays, which is attached to the hotel and provides their room service, is pretty poor. As far as food goes, it is just another average TGI so do not expect much. It's the staff in TGI which really lets the place down. Out of pure necessity or convenience I ate and/ or drank there several times during my 4 day stay and most of the wait staff were rude, abrupt, obviously terribly unhappy and had no wish to help anyone. I know enough Spanish to get by and was communicating in their own language and yet I was made to feel like I was not welcome and that I was really putting them out just by being there. I came across only 2 staff in TGIs who did their job happily. It takes a lot for me to complain about a place. I just hope my experience here was the exception to the norm.

Room Tip: Ocean room are definitely nice, but if you are sensitive to loud music late at night, ask to be at t...

Great location right on the canal away from the city. You can just sit on your deck, grab a drink, and watch ships and boats coming and going thru the canal. The causeway is a nice walk to food and shopping.

Room Tip: spend the extra and get a canal view room. Change rooms like we did if you get put on the north end...

its just a hotel. Nothing fancy, just functional. Nice pool and hot tub. Make sure you have a water/harbor view room so you can see the Bridge of the Americas and the entrance to the canal. There is a TGIFridays---its just a TGIFridays, but the yact club bar is within walking distance. They have cabs especially for the hotel, they use white crown vics. Its for guest safety, which I thought was nice.

The hotel is aprox. 40 minutes from the international airport and 10 minutes from the national airport.
A taxi to the hotel costs aprox. 35 USD when arranged with the hotel; maybe it´s cheaper if you take a regular taxi at the airport.

I´ve choosen this hotel, because it´s located a bit outside - but still close to some attractions (Allbrook mall) and next to the canal!

It has been renovated recently; some minor renovation works is still going on but did not cause any inconveniences at all.

My room was a Junior Suite; looking towards the garden side; I was not prepared to pay USD 25/night just to look to the canal.

A large and nice room; very clean; 2 large plasma screens.
Nice working area; good and free internet connection.

The bathroom: great! Nice shower; nice water-pressure. Clean; modern - just perfect.
The sleeping room: nice and comfortable bed.
A very quiet place with many US tourists.

Breakfast: excellent - with a variety of fresh fruits, breads, a selection of cereals, some local specialties; good coffee, chocolate... And the best: included in the tarif!
Unfortunately, the air-condition seemed to be at max - it was kind of cold in here...

Gym: unfortunately, the gym is small and the equipment is very limited.

Outdoor: Pool (which I did not test)

One of the best aspects of this hotel is its location:
there are plenty of smooth trails where you can run, bike or skate.
Even at night, I´ve found it safe for running outside. Wow - it´s hot and humid here...
There´s a beautiful trail to the connected islands and lots of trails including those
through "zona viva" with several restaurants and pubs.

Room Tip: Having read the "warnings about reservations" in some reports before: This hotel is known...

We stayed at this property for almost a week. They are under construction, but they go to great lengths to make sure it does not get in the way of your experience here. Staff is friendly and accomodating. The first two days we were in a regular double room with a canal view, and the rest of the days in a junior suite with a king bed and sleeper sofa. The property has an amazing view of the ships transiting in and out of the canal all day long. The pool and spa are nice and the breakfast is good with fresh fruit and hot food choices every day. The travel agency near the door to the breakfast room was awesome. She booked all of our excursions and everything went without a hitch. This was a great "home base" for doing activities in and around panama city. We were close to so many things, and enjoyed walking and bicycling the causeway in the evenings. The TGI Fridays adjacent has good food and nice staff. We were in renovated rooms with nice bathroom fixtures, granite counters, flat screen televisions, etc. Wi-fi throughout the hotel for free. We stayed with our nine year old son, and my husband's cousin and her husband, and all of us truly enjoyed this property. The price including breakfast is so worth it, considering the great location and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Definitely get the canal view rooms. Ask for a newly renovated room if you're not sure, I belie...

We had trouble booking. I swear on my Grandma's grave that we booked this one, but when we got here at midnight, they said our reservation was for the other Country Inn and Suites. They did straighten things out, but it was a hassle. Overall though, compared to other hotels in Panama City, it was a good value for it class and location. It is on the Amador Causeway, which was safe at night and offered plenty of pricey dining options within walking distance. The included breakfast was pretty good.

Room Tip: Stay on the Canal side, it'll cost you though.

We stayed for one night because we wanted to be near the canal. The rooms are extremely dated and the entire hotel is being renovated. There was a sewage smell in the halls and the rooms were a flashback from the 1980s.

The American breakfast buffet was great. The pool area and view were nice too.

My biggest complaint was the staff. I had made a reservation online, when we arrived they hadn't saved a room for us. We had originally reserved two suites but they sent some of us to a two bedroom full apartment and wanted to send the other half of the party to another separate room. Since the apartment had two bedrooms and bathrooms, we told the reception that we would just stay in the apartment. No problem ....

Until they tried to charge us for the two original rooms that we had booked ... WHICH THEY HADN'T SAVED FOR US! We insisted and they only charged us for the aparment that we actually stayed in. But we certainly left with a sour taste in our mouth.
